Hello from Maryland

I'm a mostly-intellectual college-aged man constantly seeking to understand more about the world I live in. In recent times, this has led to a dissatisfaction with modern American society; I tend to alternate between wanting to make sweeping changes without knowing how and wanting to just bow out of the whole mess.

Religiously, I think of myself as a deist magician. I don't believe in the supernatural as such, as I think everything will eventually be explained through science, but I do believe in the possibility of a designer for the universe that operates through natural law and doesn't intervene unless it's something of world-shaking importance; even that might show some anthrocentrism, though I think that if life does exist on other planets, it would intervene there as well. Falling under my "not currently scientific, but possibly someday" category are the magical rituals I engage in; I'll explain in more detail in PMs if anyone wants to know.

My big life ambition is to be an author, but first I need to find something that I can do that will pay the bills and not drive me to suicide in the meantime.
