    ok DUMB question!
I JUST barely started my period.
I am going on vacation and need this to be over by Friday.
I normally have 5-7 day cycles since I have been off the pill .
I seen a thread in here somewhere that there are some herbs or something??
Can I do SOMETHING to make it all come out in 2 days or less????
    LOL
    HELP!

Someone told me to drink parsley tea to bring your period on, but I don't know if it would speed it up once it already started. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.... :)

I just bought a few handfuls of parsley, chopped them up and boiled them in water for a few minutes, then poured it in a jar and let it steep for about half an hour. I'll try to find the thread with all stuff in it.

I don't recommend this on a regular basis, and don't do it w/o talking to your dr first, but once in a while it's ok to go back on the pill a few days early, it will make it stop sooner. It's really not that smart to muck with your body like that, but like I said, don't do it on a regular basis, and ask your doctor first. My gyne lets me do it if my period comes early and I have something coming up like exams, when I don't have time for cramps. Let us know how the parsley tea works - and tastes!

this info might be kind of late... but hopefully it helps.

so, you're not on the pill, right? i think the most surefire way to give the rag the boot early would be to pick up a pack of pills. planned parenthood has this "hope" program-thing. you go in, and can get whichever form of birth control for 1-12 months, without an exam. i think three months is standard. anyway. schedule a consultation, and they'll give you a prescription to pick up a month's worth of pills, no exam required (if you're just doing this once, a consultation should suffice, rather than having to pay the extra cash for an exam). it's not going to "make it all come out" in a couple days, but it'll stop the flow from, well, flowing, earlier than it would have naturally. it might be worth talking to them about, if you really want a reliable method.

i'm not saying that herbal remedies and drinking water are not effective. rather, all cycles are different, and everyone responds to herbs differently. without knowing how your body works, i'd only recommend the pill because it's more likely to work for more people. if you've never used artificial hormones as birth control, a vacation might not be the time to start. you wouldn't want to discover that you have a sensitivity to a high dosage on your vacation... the potential nausea would put just as much of a damper on things as your period. you specifically asked about herbs, so if this info is all irrelevent, i'm sorry for making you read so much :p

Ibuprofen has been proven in clinical studies to make the duration shorter... I haven't done this on purpose, but I was told (by someone that did it) that it does indeed work.

I used to take aspirin, to make it shorter. It makes it really heavy though... But it worked for me.

    Good luck. :)

I am really, really late on this, but you could go to your gyno, and see if he/she will give you a prescription for Provera. My doctor did when I had something important coming up. It stops your period while you are taking the pills, but once you stop I think you have a light two or three day one.
