HELP! I am looking at various options around the globe to possibly move. I heard WONDERFUL thing about Vancouver. What is the job market like? Houseing etc..... Cost of living?? Is it hard to get a visa to LIVE in Canada?? ANY INFO would be GREATLY appriciated.
van's alright. housing is incredibly expensive, traffic is a nightmare, and there's a lot of pollution and crime (big city, go figure! LOL). there are LOTS of jobs, and i bet it would be pretty easy to find something under the table. the area around commercial drive has always been pretty hippy. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/qual-1.html try that link. i bet the canadian immigrations site is getting lots of hits today. peace
given the amount of people strolling downtown/the seawall/ the beaches at any given time of day, i don't think people here actually work as far as job market goes i guess it might depend on what you can/will/want to do? rent in vancouver city can be pretty expensive unless you are well paid or pool together with some other people. i'm trying to find a 2 bdrm and i'm easily (?!) looking at paying about 8 bills+ on the west side. it might be less on the east side though, i dunno? the suburbs are cheaper but can suck for getting around unless you drive. it is a beautiful place to live though
www.discovervancouver.com this site is really helpful, the forums have a lot of people willing to give you awnsers to questions your wondering about. Vancouver Is a nice city...however, it is really busy.."touristy"...but there are a lot of options...a lot of things to do here...And the music scene Is great. I live in Delta, just out of Vancouver...lol..and I highly reccommend you avoid both Delta and Surrey...In terms of moving somewhere.. Victoria is a beautiful place, and it's got a nice little community near the water...definatley check out Victoria if your considering moving out to BC. Saltspring Island Is also a very nice place to live...laid back...the artsy communities..Im not sure on the prices for housing, but I wish you the best In wherever you choose to move.Canada Is an awesome place. If you have any other questions I can help you out with let me know!
If you do move to Vancouver, I know (first hand) that there are a lot of jobs doing telemarketing stuff... it kinda sucks, but if you really need a pay check or two 'til you can find something better, it's just what the doctor ordered... It is pricy to live downtown, but it's not as bad on the outskirts... I'll definatly second Victoria being great... I love it here!
