Ok so im supposed to go in and give blood on thursday. recently ive been using oxy and morphine. the thing i want to know is should i stop so the drugs will be out of my system by then. i would hate to give blood and then have it thrown out because its contaminated. i would also hate if they mentioned it to my mom, who im going with. anyway what do you guys think.

Having substances in my bloodstream has always prevented me from giving blood before, but I really don't know if they test it or not.
^^HAHA No shit, the only time I could ever give blood is when I got out of rehab. Other than that I don't think my blood has ever been clean..LOL
It's sad that we have a guy who wants to give blood to save lives but may get denied cause he has a little oxy in his system. It's not like he has hep C or something. What could be the harm if you have trace amounts of drugs in your system.... nothing... the whole issue of liability is so abused these days it make me sick.
I think the "ruling" is that as long as the drug is not in your bloodstream when you give blood then it should be okay. I am pretty sure they ask you if you have injected any drugs in the past year because they do not want to take any chances and find Hep C in the donated blood. I donated blood in high school several times and always had shit in my system. It is a noble thing to do so cares what the fuck you have in your system, eh? If they do not want your blood, then fuck 'em. They will more than likely ask you if you have had sexual encounters, tattoos, piercings, or if you have injected drugs in the past year so you should be okay. And like Oxyrisin said, the person who gets your blood will probably want to thank you for giving him doped blood (I am not serious about that but, hey, you never know). Ha. Take care, man. -NICU
You don't have to worry about them telling your mom. One, it's confidencial medical info; two they don't test it on site, it would be at a lab. I'm not sure if it's rejected or if they even inform you if it's been rejected. I give blood every time I'm allowed and I'm sure that there was something in my system at least once in all those times and they never contacted me. I think they will only let you know if you have a disease.
Drugs get out of your bloodstream in 1/2 the time they get outta ur piss bro. so like a day or two and there will be no opiates in your blood.

well turns out im not allowed to donate blood ever again cuz of some of my sexual history. oh well. the people there are so nice tho they gave me a t-shirt even tho i didnt give blood.
