I attempted to bleach & dye the majority of my locks purple yesterday. I love the colour of my bangs, roots & loose hairs, but the locks themselves are pretty dark. I hope that they brighten up in a day or two.

Here a pic; I'll try to post some better one later today:

Amy; did you bleach & dye your hair before you started your locks?
I'm having a hard time getting an even effect-loose hairs take the bleach & dye better than my dreads and its frustrating me! Grrr.

I did do it before my dreads, but only by default because it's what I was doing to my hair anyway. With regards to any dying I've done since dreading, I don't mind that every single strand of hair isn't quite identical to the next...

Oh...I ask, because the more mature parts of my locks (the tips) don't take the bleach as well, so they stay much darker. So my head starts off a brilliant bright purple, and gets darker going down each dread.

Sweet color for sure. I was thinking of dying just some of my locks but not sure how to get it done without the dreads acting like sponges and soaking the dye into the center.
