Eh. Well if you have an IP address and people calling around making bomb threats, I'd suspect people to go to investigate the issue. Like, you can't ignore bomb threats.
Gov and FBI did the right thing with this one. Good Job all. I am glad to see that they are doing there job and investigating these crazy mo fo's I think they could let him go at this point but we dont know all the facts. Maybe they have other stuff on this kid. Cracks me up that this mom is like oh my poor son... bla bla bla little fucker was making bomb threats! got what he deserved. :cheers2:
Oh good grief, hit me! In a country that is SUPPOSED to be free, people are subject to due process. Do you know what due process means? Have you ever heard the term before? People are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty -- not guilty until proven innocent. They are supposed to be given a FAIR trial and convicted, if guilty, by a jury of their peers (not simply put in front of some kangaroo court to be hanged). They are not supposed to be locked up indefinitely without a trial because they're only suspected of something. This is the type of thing that happens regularly in third world hell holes like Zimbabwe, or communist dictatorships like China. Now it appears that you're a fan of the Patriot Act that Bush signed into law (and which Obama reauthorized), but this is something that would occur only under a fascist, Nazi-like government (which unfortunately we see emerging here in the US). I would like to think you're just playing the devil's advocate, or, even worse, deliberately tying to incite people (like myself) and get them pissed off. Unfortunately, something tells me that it's far worse, and that you are either terribly uninformed, or you really do support these fascist, Naziesque measures. Or you watched half the video and formed your opinion based on that alone. If I am wrong, then I apologize. But then please explain yourself. Using the same flawed logic you appear to be using, I am assuming you would also like Gitmo to remain open. I mean, after all, these people were only SUSPECTED of being terrorists and they're being held against their will, much like the kid in this video. Why, in your opinion, is what is happening to this kid any different? Using the logic you're using, everyone is a terrorist if the government says so -- it doesn't matter if a person is not tried and convicted. Pretty scary. I really didn't think people who are supposedly civilized actually supported and believed in this sort of stuff. Wow.
Of course you don't know all the facts, because he was never given a trial. Duh. Are you really that clueless? Any rational-minded person with at least a third grade education should be able to tell you that you don't simply lock a person up without giving them a fair trial first. I really hate to be mean, but wow, I cannot believe how utterly ignorant some of you are. It really is frightening. I really think some of you should move to China or Mexico if you like this sort of corrupt, runaway government so much. (Then again, why would you because it's already here in the US and other countries. It's awfully interesting how we are becoming more like China, while China becomes more like us.) Just wow.
I don't see why they make problems for themselves. They could've made this a non issue, either execute the search warrant and if you don't find anything give up before the public begins to kick you in the nuts, or get an arrest warrant and say the kid is a pubic threat to safety and deny bail
Ya know Rat, Usually you try to back up you ridiculous statements with what you feel are facts, but what happened here? Its like a response from a 10 year old. ok as far as the trial goes .... he was held for 2 weeks at the time of the video. doesnt seem unfair to me during a matter like this. At what point did you want him to have a trial????? Rational minded????? You must realize by now that you are a radical right???? all of your posts point that out. Your third grade education thing is just you venting cause your frustrated. Now the "lock up before trial comment" What the fuck are you talking about? it happens every day. Its how the system works. If and it is still an if.... the government decides to prosecute then he will get his trial. I gotta tell ya your name calling rant that you went on these last couple of posts is really out of character for you. Its easy to be a tough guy on the internet. I hope you are smarter than that in real life. :cheers2:
No, he has been held for two months. Stop lying and twisting the facts. I am radical for standing up for people's rights, yet you're not when you are taking the side that any tyrant would? Please. You're the clear radical here. Maybe you should get an education and realize that in a free country, people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
I agree the last few of Rat's posts are very out of character, either someone else is using his identity without reading his posts or he's schizophrenic or multiple personality but something is not adding up.
Was this person given legal counsel? If he was and he's still being held then there must be some evidence. The fact that he had flags in his bedroom does not absolve him from making bomb threats. being held 2 months until trial is not unusual even before the patriot act. I am not a fan of the patriot act, but if you want to make bomb threats don't think that it's going to protect you no matter how many flags you fly. And all these Obama haters better be aware that the patriot act didn't make them safer. And they let Bush pass it and renew it. Now they get to confront it up close and personal. Those of us that were against it from the beginning were told: It makes us all safer. Well how safe are all you flag waving conservatives feeling now. Not what it was intended to do....it's doing exactly what it was intended for, but you felt it made your public safer, now what do you think? You didn't think it would ever be coming for you or yours. Surprise! Surprise! Our constitution was written by people that had been oppressed, they knew what others could come up with, but we allowed our constitution to be underminded in the name of safety. How safe do you feel now? For someone that had no knowledge of how bombs were made how did she happen to mention blasting caps, and if she allows no guns around her children, does this home have no 22s or shotguns? A lot of unanswered questions. And the biggest one her attourney should be focussed on is who stole the IP address and how it was done.
Did he receive a writ of habeous corpus? That's not addressed in the video. Is his attourney allowed access? It would appear so. Thus this case is no where near what those locked up in Gitmo have had to survive. Both his mother and the attourney seem to be aware of the charges against him and where he is held. It is then up to them to prove his IP was stolen and misused. And that he made no threats. I wonder who those threats were made against? Be warned conservatives threaten the current president and the wrath of the past president may come down on your heads with all the protections you granted Bush in order to protect you.
So are you going to conveniently ignore the fact that Obama voted to reauthorize the Pariot Act, too?
Um, this is why this person is supposed to be put on something called trial; to find out who he was threatening, if anyone at all. Now if you're going to simply snatch someone out of their home based on suspicion of something and not give them a fair trial or access to an attorney, then you're never going to know these questions. Common sense. Once again, a person is innocent until proven guilty. Some of you seem to be forgetting this.
No I am fully aware that he did. As did McCain and Hillary. http://glassbooth.org/explore/index/barack-obama/11/civil-liberties-and-domestic-security/2/ http://glassbooth.org/explore/index/john-mccain/10/civil-liberties-and-domestic-security/2/ http://glassbooth.org/explore/index/hillary-clinton/1/civil-liberties-and-domestic-security/2/ But I am also fully of where he stood on some of the other issues involved.
Is he not going to have a trial? I don't think that's true, unless his attorney cops a plea. From what I am now reading this has little to do with the patriot act. http://www.thelibertypapers.org/2009/05/08/ashton-lundeby-update-less-than-meets-the-eye/ He has a hearing scheduled for May 22nd. That's a little more than what the people held in Gitmo received. http://www.lewrockwell.com/grigg/grigg-w93.html http://www.dailypaul.com/node/92288
