Spinning off from another thread, I was thinking, how might u have gone down different life paths?Say if something was different.

    I think:-
If I was more rebellious at 14, I'd be an architect now.
If I was easily brainwashed by my parents, I'd be a doctor now.
If I was at a good school, I might've been a scientist now.
If I was more trusting of people I might've been shot, or locked up for a very long time now.

So whats your "If I was..."?

You sound happy again today Piaf.:)

For the benefit of anyone reading this..
My parents *did* massively want me to be a doctor.
Terrific occupation. But I'd be rubbish at it.. as I don't like hospitals.
    Happy now?

Is the "screw you" to me still applicable?:)

if my parents had been middle class hippies I would be a happy pothead with a degree in history.

I would be in school still because I would have realized that kind of degree is utter rubbish, and I would be going for an engineering degree anyway.

    but, eh.

im still in the process of deciding what i will be...and with evey choice i make still impacts what i will become it is impossible to know if i would have done something differently where i would be now and there is no way to know where the choices i make now will lead me until i get there

Really, they won't take you over a knee surgery, even with how strong you are? I know a lot of people who have reconstructed miniscuses (however the fuck you spell it) in the military.

If I would have married my ex-fiance at 19 I would be a complete loser with nothing accomplished and no ambitions. I most likely wouldn't be on good terms with my family either.
If I would have never had a problem with xanax, I would probobly be making 6 figures in Atlanta now. I think I would still be with my husband, but it would be long-distance or he would be a civilian.
If I would have moved to Vermont when asked by an ex boyfriend I think he would be in jail, I would have very low self-esteem.
I love the way my life worked out. It's not perfect, but it's perfect for me.

I was going to join the Navy but I went fishing for a couple of weeks before signing the papers. Well 29 years later I would have been retired from the Navy, but I'm still fishing.

they would take me...thats just when i decided not to turn my papers in and enlist.

if i didn't have the knee injury and surgery, i would have had no reason to not join at that time. i was all for joining before the injury

being in the military is a comfortable existence.

being in the military is a boring experience.

being in the military is very repetitive.

Hah, really? As a navy wife I haven't experienced any of that. I would welcome it, at least for awhile, if it were true.
I can tell you one thing though, it's def not an easy existence nor is it the path for cowards or people unwilling to work their asses off.

well, from your prospective it may not be. but from your husbands point of view it may.

i was speaking of the job repetition, the constant deployments and the boredom encountered. and on a higher level, the 'why-do-we-have-to-do-this factor.'

    for me, it was.

you defiantly work your ass off, that's for sure.

i sometimes wonder what my life would be like had i not made the choices i've made.

i'd be in completely different places, living completely different lives.

i've made the choices that i've made for a reason, though, and i am 100% certain that i am on the right path for me, and what i want from my life. so besides every once in a while going "damn my life would be SO different" or seeing someone who is living a life somewhat like mine would have been had i done something different, i really don't think much about it. because i'm generally really quite happy with my life! :)

If I hadn't moved to Italy 5 years ago, I'd probably be married to an Italian girl now with at least a couple of kids.
If I was stronger-willed at 16, I'd have a degree in Literature or Architecture rather than Computers.
