Yep. An overnight stay. First they gave me morphine. IV. Every 4 hours. I knew it wasnt really going to help much, because morphine is weak, and I have a higher than average tolerance to opiates than non users. So, I decided to play the 'what can I get' game. I wanted to tell them it wasnt working, because for one, it wasnt, and for two, I wanted to test the whole 'doctors are reluctant to give anything' theory. I went from 6 shots of morphine throughout the night, to percocet once, then to dilaudid, and went home today with a script for oxy. To what do I owe all this fun opiate treatment? Nothing more than a sore throat due to strep. Either I should become an actor, or should pride myself on not looking like a druggie.

Wow an overnight stay for a sore throat.LOL I had a sore throat 2 yrs ago and went to the hospital and 3 hours later I left with a big ole jug of hydrocan.LOL But overnight, no such luck.LOL
wtf getting IV'ed opiates for a strep throat? doesn't make a lot of sense to me, plus a script of oxys? what mg did they give you? some crazy shit. whyd they make you stay overnight?
well my 1/2 my throat was closed up. Im not going to lie, it DID hurt really bad for a sore throat. But everyone knows it didnt hurt 6 morph shots, 2 10mg percs, and an 8mg dilly bad. they gave me a script of 20 10mg percs to go home with too. Honestly, my throat started feelin better right after they gave me the steroids and the swelling went down. They wanted to monitor me for 24 hrs because they said it was one of the worst cases of strep they had seen in a while. But hey, if im going to be stuck in a fuckin hospital, they are GIVING me drugs All I did was feign complete ignorance about ALL pain meds, hope they didnt notice the few needle tracks I have on my arms ( not too many, i havent shot up much recently), and whenever they tried a new pain med I was like 'what is this? Im dumb about this kinda stuff'. Just be nice to your doctors, but if the meds arent working, tell them 'I AM IN PAIN. I need something for it'. They WILL help you, or they can risk being sued for not providing ample care. Also, flirt with your nurses.

dude, ive been sick with strep more times than i can remember. but when u puke blood and ur throat is almost swollen shut, i think thats ER worthy.
