*first off, to the estimated 80% of 18 to 24 year olds that were registered but didn't vote; I really dislike you right about now. If ever an election was yours to decide, this was it. That being said, I've done what I don't like, and wrote something in a political vein... rising on the wind The war wagon rumbles onward with a roaring, offensive salvo falling on foreign desert dunes, releasing oil below the soil to liberate from repressive regime, to advocate freedom’s serene, reincarnated Roman dream while we keep telling ourselves, this war wasn’t waged to lubricate the corporate machine. The radio, the television, the paper reruns / repeats the lie, "liberty is besieged by evil militants protesting its reality." The political strategists figure: fear manipulates clouded beliefs to achieve idyllic amnesia. Did you forget? What now… where was I… oh, Israel has the inalienable rite to bulldoze the Gaza Strip, to construct "The Security Wall" expropriating Palestinian townships! Sound like maybe a source of conflict? And to the moral motherfuckers… please turn your webster’s to page 272: "hypocrite: a person who puts on a false appearance of religion or virtue." Remember the words "mushroom cloud"? How about "mobile labs" or "grave threat"? How can we reelect a lying president who’s advancing a war we’ll loose and justify it, favoring abolishing a woman’s right to choose? I send my condolences, and apologize to our 1,122 troops that’ve died, to the 8,039 wounded while doing their job, valiantly. I send my condolences, and apologize to all of you around the world that couldn’t get a voice, that watched so closely, hoping for cause to rejoice. I send my condolences, and apologize to the estimated two hundred thousand men, women, and kids killed, labeled collateral damage, and forgot about. Ignorance, apparently, is an epidemic distributed by slander and evading, reinforced by a media manipulating the American mind, for ratings. I’m afraid for us, America. Our future looks bleak, now. With the shape the world is in I can only hope that change is rising on the wind.
Wonderful rant. Powerful and intelligent. Thank you for sharing. One of the few things we can choose, besides wether or not to vote, is our attitude. Putting it into words is a craft you do so well.
