The BJP’s strong contender for the coveted post of prime Minstership, L.K. Advani has thrown down the gauntlet by asking Manmohan Singh for a live TV debate. Some of you Breaking News buffs may recall US president Barrack Obama and Johan McCain lashing out at each other in one of those TV debates during the build up to US elections. It is a common practice in the US where rival political leaders fight it out on various issues under the full media glare. Congress has rebuffed the challenge as BJP’s obsession with all things US.

L.K. Advani has already utilized internet marketing as a conspicuous electioneering tool to woo young and educated youth of the country through his personal blog and the website. Does his latest try to use TV as a publicity platform shows BJP’s attempt to mislead voters from the burning issues of Indian democracy.

BJP’s IT vision for Bharat promises to change India by providing bank account to every Indian; smart phone to every BPL family;, broadband connectivity at village level; use of internet in Schools Education, employment for everyone and good governance.

Psst! Hold on! Did we hear same homilies from N Chandra Baba Naidu way back in 90s? And, did we know the repercussion it had, and how it ousted the government out of the power? Do we still think technology without human touch can solve the problems of our society? We do need technology and innovation, but at what cost? These are the questions we need to ask ourselves and our leaders before we go out and cast our vote.
