residues are what clings to your hair shaft and make your hair slip over itself. they are real. it is science.

soap leaves scum in your hair, a few years back when I was stupid enough to be 'prepping' for dreads I never got I was told to wash with soap and my hair looked so greasy and was quiet stiff, like after using a lot of gel, it was BS.
gross stuff, but do what you want. you'll find what works for you, and then you can tell us about it and we can all experiment. HOORAY.

    Thanks tons Phat Natty.
I used Irish Spring and my hair looked and felt extremely greasy!
I think I'll try dishwasher soap until I can find some nice healthy soap

    No problem bro....
Try using the Apple Cider Vinager whenever your hair gets greasy or flaky or what ever. It smells like shit, and can burn the hell out of your eyes, but it does wonders to restore the natural PH of the scalp, and makes the dreads shine in the sun. I use it every other time i wash, and i havent had a single flake of dandruff or grease problem since ive been using.

but some people don't even use soap, you can try just giving it a good rinse and massage in the shower, works for some peeps

I tried washing with just water and a massage but I just have really oily hair so that doesn't really work lol.
