Can you describe it in detail?

Who did you live with... How did you afford to do so... Were you happy? Did it all blow up in your face?

Did you eventually move back home?

I'm moving out for the very first time in July.... I'm nervous/excited/thinking too much into it.

    :cheers2:

    Not much to it.

Just learn to think about the consequences of actions - walking out of your job, fucking your room mates boyfriend(if applicable), buying that new dress the last week of the month, etc.

    Most of it's common sense.

I've been on my own, off and on, since I was 16. I don't even remember teh first time any more. . .

Moved out at 18, lived on my own, worked and remained financially independent ever since.

Yeah. I've always been an insanely independent person so I know I'll be okay. I just get nervous about money. Right now I eat a pretty large amount of food on a day to day basis, and I'm definitely not going to be able to afford to do so when I move.....

Also not being able to just drive over to my mom's (like I can now) and vent about whatever's on my mind and have her give me a hug and stuff. Since I'm moving like an hour and a half away. I'm also probably not going to be able to drink as much as I currently do..... which will probably be hard.

Ah. I have to find a job too.

    Nice :)

You're moving and you don't have a job yet?
    How's that gonna work out?

I moved out of my moms house a year and a half ago. It has been the best time of my life. Im finally free of her. I have a job, I live with my sister and bro-in-law.
I havent been back to her house, I wil never live with her. Id rather live under a bridge than go back to her.

I'm going to school  ... to be fair, I have a good amount of money saved up that will last me the few couple of months definitely. I just have to get a job, which I've been actively searching for one via craigslist, lol.

Im really not the best example...but once I got away from bad people I was all good. The actual being away from family/being independent stuff etc was totally fine:)

I guess my first time moving out was when I was 15 and left home and hitchhiked from Florida to California..lived there for about a year bouncing from place to place, and finally was picked up by the police and placed in juvenile detention and a few halfway homes back in Florida till I went in the Army..I left for Army basic training in Fort Benning, GA 3 months after my 17th birthday in Jan 1986..never been back since..

Moved out when I was 16 and slept under a bridge for a while before moving in with a high school friend. Dropped out of high school and got a GED, and bummed around kickboxing and dealing weed till I joined the army two years later.

As for you, try to line yourself up with a job before you get there. What are you moving for? What's your goal?

My goal is fun I guess. I'm moving up to NYC to go to school with three of my best friends just because I've been wanting to, and have been saving to.... Might not be the smartest idea but it'll all work out I'm thinking. We looked at four apartments yesterday..... I fell in love with one of them. :)

Just come up with a practical idea you'll enjoy and go with it. Adjust your plans as necessary.

I moved out of my parents' house two and a half years ago roundabouts. It'll be 3 years in September. Been living with Daniel in his parents' old trailer house, and we had a roommate move in a little over a year ago. We can afford it because we don't have to pay rent, just bills, but it's tight most of the time. I'm sure we could afford to have fun if we didn't spend our fun money on weed...which is really just as fun and way less stressful than going out, in my opinion, lol. We're incredibly fortunate to be in the situation we're in, but I'd really like to one day be more independent. But at least his parents knock before they come in now, lol.

My advice for moving out young is to marry someone with a monocle.

They're probably rich, and monocles look awesome.

I advise all young women against panties. Send them all to me and live free.

Not that I want your panties because I'm a pervert. I'm building a fort.

    lol :p

I am not bringing most of my belongings up there. I don't plan on getting a TV or computer, and am just going to use the library at my school for when I need to print out homework or whatever.

I think moving is going to make me feel liberated a bit, even if that sounds corny as hell.

I'm too obsessed with all of my underwear to give them away. :cheers2:

Of course moving out is liberating. Most people don't want to be dependent their whole life.

Congratulations on moving out. I advise a thin budget. Save half of the rest of what you make and spend the rest on adventures. Try base jumping and enjoy not asking permission for it.

The first time I left my house without having to tell anyone where I was going, when I was coming back or who I was with, I almost cried.
I had been so controlled all of my life and it shocked me a little bit. If I wasnt on my way to get dick I would have dwelled on it. lol
