Dixmont State Hospital, stands in cavernous ruins that attract vandals, psychics and grade-B horror movie makers. The Kilbuck facility will likely be torn down to make way for a Wal-Mart.. Which has had its troubles some believe due to the sacred AKA haunted grounds..

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital was one of the earlier asylums built on the Kirkbride plan, with three crooked wings stretching to each side of administration; one wing for male and the other for female patients. By the end of the 1800's, the resident population grew to over 1,200 and a nursing school was established in 1895. As with most asylums, Dixmont became overcrowded to the point that it was not accepting new admissions. During the Great Depression, the hospital tried to sustain itself by paying employees only with room and board, not salaries, and sold any crafts made by patients for extra income. By 1946, the state had to step in, and the institution became known as Dixmont State Hospital.

That place looks creepy as fuck. Is it in Pittsburgh? I've been in a place almost exactly like this in Brownsville. It's sad that they gotta tear it down for a fucking Wal-Mart. But I mean, nobody's gonna use it anyway, it's all in ruins and stuff.

mmmm, i love those old abandoned institutions! it's a shame most of them are being demolished these days....with ghost hunting all the rage now, you'd think they'd choose to make a fast buck and charge admission for midnight tours, overnight stays and the like

I went into an abandoned hospital 2 years ago. It was the creepiest thing EVER. It reminds me of that mental institution that Orison posted. It had old files thrown about everywhere, and bloody sheets hanging off the old beds. My friend claimed that he saw shadows in there, too.

And across the street is a mental institution.. It was even weirder.

the wal mart to be erected on the site was canceled.. It dont take 3 years to build a wal mart, one can be built in less than a year. The site has been unstable and shifting since the hospital was destroyed.. I used to drive past here, Ohio Twp Speed traps are being used to collect lost money on the site.. Dont Fly in Killbuck rt65 youll get nabbed..

Exploring old abandoned buildings is really fun. I used to do it with freinds around here before most of the places were demolished. Good days....

We have one of those by my house, it was opened until the 1990's and then when they ran out of funding, they literally just released a bunch of crazy people and allowed some to live in cabins by the hopsital!!! They recently turned it into condos! And the condosburned down twice before they could even have people move in!!!

There's a lot of exaggerated facts in the video but also some pretty interesting stuff.
It's in Liberty, MO and I can honestly say it is probably the scariest looking place I've ever seen. They light it up in the night and there are floodlights everywhere that will go on if there is movement.

It's burnt down a few times, and no longer looks like this anymore, but it is still pretty impressive. The current owner has been trying to renovate it, but apparently the stuff inside keeps getting fucked up.

Yeah they tore down a place that came to be known as 'Demon's Alley' around here. It was like literally a little town of houses, all rundown and old and completely abandoned. All kinds of crazy shit went on there. I went there a couple times, pretty scary.

Eventually an arsonist started burning the houses down, so they demolished and gort rid of everything.

There also used to be this huge abandoned factory around here. It was so cool and I'm pissed I never took any pictures. It's all gone now :(
