Everyday SOMEONE will tell me that my dreads just arent working out... and id have to say they are going less than splededly. But my reasoning behind keeping the dreads is that they WILL get better, and the people that say they dont look good dont know how natural dreading works.. so i brought my problem to you people, who know EXACTLY how natural dreading works...

    soo, does it look bad?

they look fine to me, all seems pretty normal, just ignore them, they eventually shut up, or tell them if they dont have anything good to say dont say it. most people just do not understand dreads since every other style gets done in one visit to the salon. but anyway, try not to get discouraged

    you said they're natural?
how long have you had them?
the bases are looking pretty good, but the length just looks regular hair..
did you section them or did they do that naturally?
if so, thats a good time.
anyway! dont stress, natural dreads take months before they even start to resemble dreadlocks.

Did you backcomb them? If so, if you want to, re-backcomb them? I can see some knotting going on in your last pic so yay!! How long have you had them? Try raping your head with a wool hat (sorry for the expression im feeling a bit wordy tonight after a 2000 word essay!!)

The wool will make a MESS and knots which is what we like ^^

But they seem to have knotted at the roots, cus they are sticking out :D and I cannae see and bands so kudos and = knotting is coming along :) Personlly I'd re-backcomb the ones you are worried about :)

well not fully natural. i guess natural in the sense that im using no wax or anything like that. I backcomb and crochet from time to time, i sectioned them off, well, my gf did, badly.

definitely willl.. any idea on what to do about the tips? they just will not knot up, or even backcomb right most of the time, if got a really fine tooth metal comb that SHOULD get the job done, but basically blows dogs for quarters...

Do it when your hair is dry after you wash them, so they have a good chance of staying in. How often do you wash them? Once a week is pretty good for starting locks, cus they get a chance of.. y'know.. knotting permanantly if you see what I mean xD I know the fustration of BCmed locks falling out, key is just to stay with it xD

Edit: Haha dogs xD I find it really good if you hold the end of the dread with you middle and forefinger, or your thumb and finger and rub it in to the palm of the opposite hand. Do this for a minute or two for each dread.

i usually wash my locks about once a week, with salt water to get that extra dryness.

    Nice :)

Ohh I also found that using the same technique you use for the tip rubbing you can knot your whole dread too if you have the muscles xD grab the dread near the root and rub it in the opposite palm... See if it works.

"Natural" in the dreadlock world means the method in which they were made. Not the level of maintenance put into pre-made dreads
