Ive been wanting dreds for a long time now partly because my hair can be curly and unmanageable but mostly I love the way they look.
The problem is I have weird hair. Its naturally curly/frizzy and even when I straighten it its still raggedy looking and really tangled unless I brush it frequently.Like once an hour.Which leads me to think my hair is meant for dreds but lots of friends have told me my hair is too thin.So my basic questions are:
How do I know if my hair is too thin?
How long should my hair be before I start my dreds?

    it's fine
    dread!
I think 6 inches is the minimum length I could be wrong though.
    Curly/frizzy is good.

1 dont start your dreads just stop brushing they will start themselves
2 your hair wants to dread no matter what you do
3 your hairs extra thin because of all the extrra effiort you putr into preventing dreads brushing every hour will cause extra thinning of hair
4 theres no set length most hair to go natural 6 inchges is recomended but many hair types especialy afrivcan caqn dread at any length even 1/8 inch
yours sounds very dread ready so 2 inches should be good but no matter what u stop combing it wil;l dread when it wants wether 2 inches or 6 and it will get there faster cause no combing means no need for trims to remove split ends..

ready to start? throw your comb in the trash..or cerimonaly bury it..close that chapter on your klife where tyopu were a slave to preventing the dreads you always wanted...

    are you bald?

    no?

SE.. nice to see that you are back, however I do believe 2. and 4. are wrong xD Hair doesn't want to do anything... its dead.. its hair.. nothing... EH? And brushing doesn't thin your hair 0.o People with thick hair have to brush it a million times a day and it doesn't get thinner 0.o

OP: Dreads are for anyone dude... No mater what hair type ^^ And hair will dread probably like 2/3 inches minimum? I dunno ^^

ah...not always dragonvine, people with thick hair don't have to brush a million times a day- I have extremely thick hair, I have had stylists tell me that my hair is the thickest they've ever seen...and I only brushed it once a day (before I dreaded)

and I think it depends on how you view your dreads- if you see it as just a hairstyle, than sure, it's just hair...for some people it's more spiritual, and your hair (as an extension of your self) will want to dread.

Me too... i *use to* have hairdressers telling me i had the thickest hair blah blah. Probs with thick (as in lots of) hair is that it malts a lot more than not as thick hair....
