Purple purple purple. One of my favorite strains [IMG]. But what exact strain is standard purple? I've always somewhat wondered this. There's a lot of different types of purples.....there's purple power, purple haze, purple kush, purple urkel, granddaddy purple, and so on. All of which I've done many times, though it's pretty clear that purple kush, purple urkel, and granddaddy purps ain't the main purple, since they be indicas or mostly indica. What I'm wondering is two-fold.

Firstly, what strain is standard main purple? When folks say "they got purple" which purp strain are they referring to? Now one aspect I like about getting normal purple, as oppose to grandaddy purps which is often toted to be of higher quality, is the heady sativa nature of the strain (grandaddies are mostly indica) I love the soaring, upbeat, and general mind expanding nature of them purps. But there are two popular sativa purple strains that could be the purple that I often get. Obviously these are purple haze and purple power. Is standard purps purple haze or purple power?

Secondly, for a while I was thinking that purple haze and purple power were probably the same strain.....they have very similar characteristics of course. But they seem to have different lineages....purple power is bred from crossing Dutch Skunk and Thai Haze. Purple haze on the other hand is bred from crossing Holland's Hope with Skunk#1. Both have skunk in them, but they are probably different types of skunk. So it's really hard to say. Is purple haze and purple power the the same strain? And either way, is the main purple strain purple power, purple haze, or some other purple? If it is some other purple, what purple is it?

I have a good feeling that standard purple is purple power, but I don't know for sure. BTW I'm in California, in case the main purple strain is something different in other states.

Oh and one more question, for those of you who have tried both purple power and purple haze.....which do you prefer and why?

The reason nobody answered is there isn't a standard answer{:>\

There are so many people cross breeding plants now that the strains are becoming blurred together!
