I have a 50 gallon fish tank with cichlids and little to no algea. I was wondering if using water from the tank would hurt my plants in any way. Im not trying to do some secret trick for mass buds, I'll be happy with ANY buds as I'm a novice at this. But I do have to periodically do cleanings and water changes, and it seems like it would be a waste of water if I could use it on my plants without harming them. I have seen fertilizers like fish emulsion, but knowing my luck its something different entirely, and Im hesitant to try fertilizers anyway being an amateur. Storing and space for the used fish water isnt a problem. Any serious response would be appreciated. Thankyou in advance.
If ya think about what may be in the fish tank water there may very well be some nutrientional value to with the algea and shit.Marine algea has for years been used in horticulture as a natural growth hormone for plant vigor, healthy growth from decreased plant stress, and improved yields via increased cellular division. As for the shit found in the water could prove to have good quanities of nitrogen for vegitive stage in plants cycle. The only down side I could see is that you probly use Ph adjusters to maintain your ph for the fish and this in my opinion would not be a benefit to the plant in the organic sense.Get yourself some organic Fox Farms or Earth Juice ferts to use as they are very forgiving when compared to chem ferts.Peace
