Increasingly Liberal or Conservative?

As you get older, do you find yourself becoming more liberal or more conservative in your thinking and actions in terms of sexual and moral issues? Are you more or less tolerant? Those two questions can have different answers, since you can become more conservative in your own behavior while realizing that it is okay for others to follow a different path.

Are your views on moral issues significantly different from those of your family and friends? If so, why do you think you are going in a different direction?

I know that I am much more tolerant than I was twenty years ago, but my own actions have become more conservative. As a friend recently pointed out, conservatism is a normal, natural reaction when you have a lot to lose. But unlike many of my peers, I don't think that other people should be required to handle things the way that I would. Everybody has their reasons. And since I have changed my mind about a few things in the past, I understand that it could happen again, which means I could be wrong about something now. That understanding leads to tolerance.

I am surrounded by people who seem to get less tolerant every year of other views, values, and lifestyles, and I don't have a clue why I am so out of sync with all of them. I don't think my life experiences have been that different from theirs. Maybe it's just that they don't feel free to say what they really think.

More tolerant of various sexual activities, yes ... but less tolerant of abuse and moral relativism. My ideas of what should be done with sexual abusers of children, for instance, are not gentle.

My moral views aren't that different from my family. My mother was very open about sexuality. She was a horndog, too. It runs in the family.

I wasn't even thinking when I wrote the OP about practices that victimize others. I have never had any tolerance for that sort of thing. No change there.

    I love it!

I get what you mean about liberal and tolerant being different things, when you are talking about sex. In my actions, I was a little more liberal when I was in college. I am just as tolerant as I have ever been. If you want to get naked in the middle of the day and fuck in the middle of Main Street, I don't care. I think I am more tolerant than most of my friends, but some of them are more liberal.

A mixture of both- more accepting of some things and less of others.

More liberal in what I do & want to do and probably a lot more tolerant of what others want to do as well (except abusers - as mentioned above).
