with very minimal understanding of basic methods of extraction, and a small investment, anyone can have DMT very easily. anyway, to answer the question... DMT is dimethyltryptamine, which is a psychedelic tryptamine found in hundreds, if not thousands, of different plant and animal species, including human beings. other tryptamines would include psilocybin (which is in magic mushrooms) and LSD. DMT, when smoked, produces incredibly intense, otherworldly visions with a duration of only a few minutes, akin to salvia extract. however while these aspects are similar, its generally considered to be a totally different type of experience. i have not smoked DMT, but have insufflated DPT which is chemically closely related and allegedly quite similar in many ways though still very distinct. DMT has a reputation for being the most intense and most profound psychedelic known to humanity, and despite being a schedule I substance it is present in varying levels in every human brain, and it has been speculated that naturally occurring fluctuations of DMT levels may be the source of many phenomena such as spontaneous or intentional religious ecstasy, near death experiences, alien abductions, etc. it is also one of the main components of the ayahuasca brew of the amazon. DMT is not orally active because the MAO enzyme destroys it in the gut, so the brew is made with plants containing DMT as well as a vine which contains substances which inhibit the MAO for a short period of time, renering the DMT orally active. taken this way it lasts much longer than when smoked. i understand disliking salvia. i don't think its fun at all, and suspect DMT would be a much more worthy substance. but i do think the experience, while often unnerving or even terrifying, is worthwhile if you have some spiritually based appreciation for that type of experience.
colin, i often agree wholeheartedly with a lot of your opinions and am usually very impressed with the depth with which you engage in life and spirituality. but this statement of yours is completely wrong, in my experience. the visions and knowledge i get through meditation and spiritual practice (without the use of drugs other than my daily mj) are far and beyond what i've experienced with any psychedelic. they feel and ARE so much more true. my visions (i get them a LOT, not provoked by anything, just randomly) almost always come true if they're future, and often i hear other people's thoughts. this has nothing to do with any drug use. i hear them and see them even if i'm not on any drugs. they are more accurate and real than anything i've ever experienced. however, because i believe myself to have a semblance of control on my thoughts and my self, i don't allow myself to go to these places i'm going with the salvia. because i don't want to, at least on one level. i truly believe (and have seen with my own eyes, felt with all my senses) that each and every human being is a highly telepathic and visionary soul. we have just convinced ourselves for so long that we are not, that we do not believe in it, we do not access it, and we build walls and towers within ourselves to protect ourselves from this connection to the source of all that is, from the vast interconnectedness that allows such "paranormal" activity. so. the way you stated it as virtually impossible to have visions without delirium or psychedelics... it's true in that most people have not allowed themselves to do so, unless they take psychedelics. but it's quite possible, and really quite easy without. and i just won't even get into the whole "delirium" (which i'm assuming you mean to refer to "mental illness") thing because my views on it will just piss off a lot of people and i'm not in the mood for that this morning, lol!
No. It's extremely easy to fuck up DMT extraction and poison yourself when you smoke it or whatever. You have to be a professional or at least know what you're doing. I don't really want to go too much into it on a public forum though, yet let's just say that I'm aware of the procedure.
isn't dmt what that ivy chick was all about? that's enough to make me never try it no matter what the fuck amazing trip it gives you.
Is it from morning glory seeds? We had a bunch of that extracted, but neither of us wanted to do it, so we tossed it. If it's as rare as Pavel says, sounds like I made a bummer move. I could have at least given it to someone who would have enjoyed it.
i didn't say it WAS impossible, or that they are second rate. but it is simply not the case that most people are able to achieve them readily or reliably. even devoted practitioners of various styles of meditation go years, often their entire lives, without a transcendant experience. you are an exception to the norm, essentially. by using the word delirium i am not indicating mental illness, simply neurological otherness of some variety. i actually don't believe in almost any varieties of mental illness. most of these "illnesses" are not pathologies at all, and imo better left untreated, with a few exceptions. delirium was simply the most accessible word i could think of to describe biologically generated, endogenous alterations of consciousness. i believe that introduction of psychedelic substances to the protohuman population jumpstarted religious thought and practice in vast antiquity, and believe that these practices are every bit as valid as any other variety of spiritual experience. in my opinion psychedelics are better than other means of having visions ONLY because they are far more readily accessible and reliable to EVERYBODY, rather than the extremely few people such as yourself. further, i believe the boundary dissolution, ego death, and the earthshattering wierdness of the experience has value as well, not simply the visions.
no, it isnt from morning glory seeds. like i said, you need two different plants for DMT to be orally active - because you need an additional drug to shut down the MAO in your gut. morning glory seeds contain various lysergic compounds, related to but qualitatively very different from LSD, which is a synthetic lysergic drug. the cocktail of substances in MG seeds is usually referred to simply as "LSA" for lysergic acid amide, but they are really several drugs with similar characteristics.
That's the last drug i want to try, before I am done experimenting. i don't have a desire to try anything else I haven;t tried, except X.
ecstasy tablets are generally understood to ideally contain nothing except MDMA, but the variety is huge and basically anything can be in there. many people produce "fake" pills with all sorts of things in them which look identical to pills with good reputations, so unless you get your pills tested you can't be sure whats in them. however, MDMA is an extremely close chemical relative of methamphetamine. MDMA stands for 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine personally i think MDMA is pretty much worthless outside of therapy, with no spiritual usefulness (for me, anyway). it is fun, though, but i just dont dig it so much. i'll stick with mushrooms and such.
I think it's the one drug that could have theraputic intentions for me. I've researched it's use with PTSD and I have debilitating PTSD at times. To be honest, sometimes it's hard to be 'normal' (ie-go to work, eat 3 times a day, bathe). I know about this woman in Marin, CA who is a great therapist and uses Ecstacy. Are you as out of it with Ecstac as you are with Salvia? Taht's the thing, I like to be able to be aware whilke my journey is taking place. That;s what I hate about salvia. I have no part in my journey, the salvia is taking me there. i am not driving at all. i can't process through what I want to process through with.
the wierdest...hmmm haha was with a lady and we were naked, we smoked the salvia. and i felt like a race car and she was the driver. she was using a certain part of my body that was quite hard and acted as the stick shift
