Yeah but not 'tripping' as such ... more like 'loved up on E' or something ... like a oneness or a loveness.

When I was a child, I used to lie down on the carpet and stare at the ceiling. I would slow my breathing and quiet my mind. After several minutes, I could see the formation of patterns in the texture of the ceiling... very much like visuals I see on textured surfaces when I'm tripping on low to moderate doses of most psychedelics (this was, obviously, many years before I ever ingested any mind altering substances)

Not exactly tripping... but, I always thought it was neat.

Eventually, I learned that I could use that relaxation technique in a dark quite room, and I could propel myself into a dream like state... basically, I "discovered" meditation without knowing what it was.

^^ I used to do that sitting on the bog looking at the pattern on the floor lino ... a ghost image of that pattern would appear say, 10 inches above the floor and perhaps upto 4 or five of these ghost layers altogether and i'd kind of stick my hand through them and i'd wierd at the wierdness of it.

  4. That's funny, when I was little I remember I could 'zone out' if I stared at something and focused for a few, my vision would get somewhat interesting and distorted, and before I knew it I was basically in a meditative state. In this state I felt so relaxed and calm, I remember I could 'zone out' of this state and realize I was cross eyed for a moment from staring for so long...

I used to do this all of the time, even when I was nearing my teens, I now look back and think this could have been diagnosed 'ADD'...But I remember how blissful it was, and how I always enjoyed doing it, and thinking, now as I grow older, I am more into meditating and the like, and look back on those experiences as practice for the levels I attempt to reach now...

I thank God I was never put on ADD medications, and I never told doctors any of this, I have only benefited from it otherwise :)

when i was younger i would close my eyes and softly push on them with my palms and watch as patterns start to form in the darkness and create a vision of flying through random patterns, im sure this is probably not very good for your eyes tho

Once I was around people who tripped and got in the mindstate, no visuals but the typical strange talks and confusion, real strange, I thought I had taken LSD aswell but then realised I should be sober. In the beginning of the evening I smoked some DiMiTri but that was during 7 minutes or so..

Anyone know about different (audio) frequencies affecting your thought patterns? This would be really interesting to actually try, because I've heard about it a few times. That would be great if someone found an example or something.

On the topic of childhood... I lived in my own head up until about 5th or 6th grade, I'd say. I was quite a weird kid, and I enjoyed it!

Ohh, and one more thing....if you act stoned long enough, you'll feel stoned. Trust me. It works. You'll also save a ton of cash.

ah, the wonders of willpower :)

People don't realize the true power of their own brain until they experiment with something they are scared of. After that, you can practically understand anything thrown at you.

    I love/hate brains :D

Deep meditation explores the unconscious, but yields no halucinations.

Obviously we are talking about the distinct possibility of you wanting some kind of "mental illness". It is possible to purposefully do this to yourself by doing many drugs for many years with properties that could cause psychosis long term (even while sober) because the damage is done. Doesn't sound like an appetizing path, does it? ;)

I have never tripped off of drugs but I have had disassociated completely sober. The psychobabble term for it is "disociative fugue". Complete disconnection. It's neither pleasant nor unpleasant. Just was. Weird.

Good luck with your journey of psychadelic soberness :)
