The reason there is such a gap in the tests is because of the different word and letter combination's that are used. The majority of typing is done with the right hand I do believe. That being said the more you use your right hand I would think the easier the test would be since it gets the most repetition. There's also something to be said about knowing what you're going to type just before you type it. Trying to read and type simultaneously is a learned skill, honestly. Typing off the top of my head, I probably am still much closer to the 120 wpm that I typed in highschool. Taking dictation is equally as hard, IMO. And I can multitask fairly well....
my record is 100, I got 92 on this (astronaut) I usually just laze and type somewhere in the 40-60 range. I am typing on an IBM model M keyboard (buckling spring keyboard) I should note my RECORD is 121 on a dvorak, but no one uses a dvorak, so, that's not fair. it brings up everyone's typing speed once they get used to it. I'm sure you can do that on a qwerty but it's a hell of a lot harder because a qwerty is designed to limit your speed (if you strike two keys at once on a typewriter you jam it, so you were capped at a certain speed mechanically, so they tried to keep you under that speed with the arrangement of letters)
Aye. My last keyboard was a piece of shit. This one springs very nicely and gives a nice smooth flow to the typing and the keystrokes themselves. Not bad considering it was the cheapest keyboard on the shelves.
yeah, keyboard really does make a difference, I mean, membranes are cuch shit, I'm a clickaholic. be it my ALPS switches on my old northgate omni-key Ultra-t, or my IBM model M, I needs teh click.
hehe, I was just going to say I type really fast in chat! I love switching, so typing on a laptop for a while, then on a normal kepboard. Its fun. Ah yeah, I heard about that. Also because most of the main keys (like e and a) are on the left side and most people are right handed. I wanted the other kind of keyboard but I couldn't remember what it was called.
I did the test twice. First for a minute. Net Speed: 79 WPM (words/minute) Accuracy: 85% Gross Speed: 93 WPM (words/minute) Then for two minutes. Net Speed: 71 WPM (words/minute) Accuracy: 93% Gross Speed: 76 WPM (words/minute) I'm a sprint like typed. I'm no good with a minute because I rarely write for a minute straight. I'll beat your score one day TCF!!
Perhaps. I do spend a lot of time every day typing away at the HF... Not to mention I write a decent bit on the computer too. Nothing that I ever save, but I do quite the bit of typing every day. Really just plain ol finger exercises probably help quite a bit. Imma look into those other boards though because if there are boards that are more conducive to typing faster than I'm all about it really.
I'm not testing my typing. I know that I type a lot slower than I used to. Since I'm no longer in college and spending all of my time here I've lost my speed. I make more mistakes now because of my fingernails. I'm always hitting the wrong key.
an omni-key can reconfigure between the two with a push of the button, you CAN find blank keycaps for them, so it's just a mental regearing instead of moving all of the fucking keycaps (even with the cap puller, pain in the fucking ass)
I'm going to look into that then. I can use black fingernail polish to remove the letters. I'm not paying for blank keys.
HAHA, you think I paid for blank keycaps? I got a second keyboard that was broken and sanded the letters off with a dremel. if you find a place that has a lot of omni-keys cheap though, tell me, because I do need to stockpile.
Net Speed: 87 WPM (words/minute) Accuracy: 97% Gross Speed: 89 WPM (words/minute) on the aesop's fables one. that's slow for me, haha. i used to be like, 120 wpm with 99% accuracy. i used to type for a living. but that was long ago. and i'm stoned right now. haha!
the little blue thing kept fucking with me. i was reading far far ahead of that, but it kept pulling me back when it'd flash, and then i'd lose my place and slow down.
Man. I honestly never realized how different my typing is when I'm really high. The first couple I did yesterday were early in the day when I was pretty clear eyed. The one last night was after a few blunts and bowls and it wasn't drastically slower but about 5wpm slower and seemed like it was because I had to correct more mistakes.(Big DUH, right? haha) :cheers2:
