Every person that has done or tried to do something great has had small minded people who will try to destroy the dreams of the person who is actually reaching beyond what is normal.

They think it makes them look big to tear down others.

Those people suck.

 

I wouldn't do anything. I do what I like and I don't care what anyone else thinks about it.

Although, if I ever discover that I'm a lousy doctor, I'll do science and not clinics.

 

I tell 'em to keep talkin. While they're busy thinking about what can't be done I'm thinking about what can be done. And while they're criticizing, I'm doing.

Wasting time and energy trying to tear others down wont get people anywhere. I just stay positive.

 

Generally I wouldn't let anyone know I'm passionate about sthg til I've reached a certain level.

So if I was good at sthg and they said I was shit, I'd put the record straight and tell everyone they molest children or sthg.It'd mean a war of some sort anyway...

Depends on what I think about that myself. You can be passionate about something and just be not very good at it, right? :biggrin:
Either way I wouldn't make a big deal about it, or the person doesn't know what he's talking about or he has a different opinion, which is fine. Especially if he's alone in that opinion

To be perfectly honest, it would make me really sad. Depending on who informs me that I suck, I could really take it to heart, and reevaluate my life goals. If there's one thing that scares me, its being delusional. I care about other people's opinions too much, and I need to know the truth.

 

I honestly wouldn't give a shit.

Being affected by the opinions of others is a sign of insecurity and weakness.

 

There's probably a healthy middle ground between megalomania, and reevaluating your lifes goals because a friend thinks you should.

Everythings a skill, sometimes you do have room to improve, and theres nothing wrong with listening to criticism, than working hard to prove the little people wrong.

I have nothing against listening to criticism, hell... I cannot help but listen, I'm the kind of person who doesn't miss a word even if the person I'm talking to is babbling complete crap.

Yet, I do not truly think that anyone knows what's good for my life other than me. My friends don't ever give me advice, but ask for it somewhat regularly. They know that I don't want their advice, and probably don't have anything to offer that I haven't already thought of to begin with. I'm not extremely open about my life as it is, I'd rather discuss abstracts or just fuck around.

I think that feeling the need to prove people wrong is a sign of weakness though.
