If you use it then it's worth it.

I've had a gym membership for the last 10 years, and for me it's worth every penny since I am there 5-6 days a week.

I'm really really really really really not a gym person. I'm in great shape though. I just find ways to stay in shape without having to do mindless exercise. (Basketball, riding my bike everywhere) Hell, right now I got a 6 pack and crap because my job is very physically strenuous. I always loose it after the summer though because I start drinking a lot and being not so active (plus, the winter sucks).

i got it last weekend and have been there every day since, a couple days i went twice
my body recovered this weekend without me working out
i have the trainer to help keep me motivated and going
he wants to get me in athletic shape and considering where i'm at right now should only take a month and a half
we'll see how the bikinis look later on in the summer mj

i find myself turning into a jock though, i get retardedly pumped up after working out
    :)

you certainly don't need a gym membership to reach your fitness goals. it certainly can help, and it may be what people need.

i have one. they just bumped the price up to $70/year...which is amazing, since a lot of fitness clubs around are $29-$40 a month. i just go to a community center. it has the basic - power rack, bench, plenty of weights, and a C2 rower...i don't need much else...i would like some other equipment, but i can certainly make do with what is available.

so its worth it for me. now, if i was paying $40 a month it wouldn't be. i'd just make do with my home gym stuff - sandbag, push/pull sled, jump rope, and some other smaller stuff.

    my gym is homesteading..lol

the local gym here is down to charging 17 bucks a month. i guess when disposable incomes being pinched folks figure out other ways to stay in shape..

yeah i pay $40/mon for the membership
it's a lot but being a bartender the better shape i'm in the better tips type thing
plus it makes me feel fucking great so in my mind i can deal with it

the trainer is something i got to get me started and will probably lose him after the first couple months
i could never get myself motivated to work out at my house
so now that i go and have all the fancy equipment and they offer boxing classes for me included with my membership

I say go for it, especially if you feel unmotivated to workout at the house. That feeling of laziness and unmotivation is anchored to your house, you gotta break it by doing something different. Try not to lose too much weigh though, last time I saw a video of you(dancing I think) you were nice and thick(in a good way, you know like "damn, babies thick!" something like that).

Some of those home pilates equipment seem pretty cool. They cost about $250.

I did once upon a time. The funny thing was, I worked out on company time, so it evened out on the $ end. As for now, I have a treadmill, eliptical, weight machine, a bunch of free weights, and some other shiznit all sitting downstairs in my basement.

    Something like that.:)

Actually I am a Martial artist and use techniques from a book called the "Naked Warrior'

But hell my snake boots add about 30 pounds of weight to my legs. I also have to hike around to check up on employees.:D

I do my cardio at home in front of the TV. I wouldn't be able to weightlift on my own at home...no motivation. I don't have workout partners, but I like having some people around, and it gets me out of the house.

when i was in college i had unlimited access to the school's fitness center; i never ever used it.

i worked out all the time back in high school though, since the weight room was there and i was supposed to do so for sports anyway.

so i guess it's a combination of i need a reason to motivate me, and it needs to be right there instead of someplace i have to go to.
