Mike ( my fiance ) is diabetic, he just got diagnosed last august it was very out of the blue, no one in his family has it, and he eats extremely well and works out all the time so that was quite a shocker.. I had to call 911 cuz he wasn't even aware at all about what was going on with him he couldn't even stay conscious.. the doctor said if I hadn't called 911 and I just let him sleep like he wanted to he never would have woken up.. it was scary he was in the hospital for over a week... so anyways my question is.. Is there any natural way to lower his sugar??? right now he's having an issue with his insurance so it's taking a min to get some more insulin... when he works out it'll go down and when he doesn't eat any carbs or sugar it'll slowly go back down alittle but it's staying pretty high.. he'll get it back down to around 150.. and in the morning he'll be right back up to 450-500 it's not cool at all.. if you can help me out on any info I'd appriciate it! thanks! much love, Hollie*
Has he spoken with his doctor regarding the insurance issue? Many times doctors can give samples to patients that need it. If he needs the insulin, I'm sure there is a way the doctor can make sure he gets what he needs. When I worked at a family physicians' office, we had patients that needed medications and might not have had the money or insurance to cover it at the time, so we would call the drug reps that supplied the meds and make sure they brought enough so that we could help that particular patient out. We'd set aside enough just for them to have.
nutrient loaded green veggies will give him the best results. avoid fruit, keep the fats low in the meats.
call the doc yourself, get his drugs. if he's anything like me, he'll let it go forever until he starts getting really sick.
that's exactly what he does.. well since he moved to Illinois he doesn't have a doctor here.. so I don't even know who to call..
try to find a low income clinic. usually church run places. you get free or low cost care. great for when you don't have insurance.
Well 1st being diabetic ain't a disaster. Some top atheletes need insulin. But he'd have to be really stupid to avoid treatment and not eat as best he can. I'd say Chinese medicine would be a good way of treating it. It does help people - lower their need or even requirement for insulin. Western medicine deals with the symptoms but says its a few yrs away from a cure still. There's bound to be some top Chinese doctors in Chicago. If u send me a webpage of one u locate, I'll tell u whether I think it looks good. Good luck!
I was a diabetic for many years, here is what I did to stop being a diabetic. I stopped eating prepared foods and only eat whole foods. I lost 100 lbs, and have normal blood sugar levels. What are whole foods, For breakfast I eat whole wheat (cracked) cooked mush, this will clean out the colon, most type 2 diabetics have too much shit in their colon, from eating too much prepared foods. Prepared foods have sodium preservatives that shut down the colon. I'll bet that he gets constipated often. Next I eat a lot of whole grain brown rice. This is not the typical store bought rice, most rice like Minute Rice, boiling bag rice etc is made by removing the bran and germ, then the endosperm (the white starchy paste) is used and cooked and dried to make minute rice and most prepared rices. Research has shown that eating whole foods cures most type 2 diabetes. I eat very little meat, but when I do it is not pork, I eat chicken and beef. Pork is high in undigestible fats. These fats will spike the blood sugar levels. I use (with out any problems) molasses and torbanado sugar. The reason these are better to use is because these still have the original minerals that help the body digest sugars. White sugar and especially HFCS high frutose corn syrup do not have any minerals that help the body use sugars. HFCS causes the body to dump all the insulin that it has to digest the HFCS. Very bad. If he drinks soda this is very bad, most non diet soda has HFCS , the diet sodas use nutrisweet, this also causes a false insulin reaction. Learn to drink fruit juices, not juice drinks. I eat well, lots of stir fried rice, soups, whole wheat bread. On that subject, store bought whole wheat bread is NOT whole wheat. Most of the brown color in store bought bread is caused by carmel color, not whole wheat. Also most type 2 diabetics are lactose sensitive, you may want to check this out. If I seem to know a lot about this, it's because I was a diabetic for many years until I decided to use my diet to heal myself, rather than taking pills or, the next step, insulin. Also, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other diseases cannot thrive in an alkaline body. Cayenne and vitamin C (even though vit c is an acid) will make your body more alkaline. I had a friend who was a physician. I asked if diabetes was really mitigateable with diet and alkalinity. He said yes. I asked why don't doctors instruct their patients as so, and he said that he could lose his license if he didn't push the pills!!!!! I'm more than happy to help PM me if I can help Good Luck Dan PS he will have wild cravings once he gets started, just tough it out and in a short time those cravings will go away.
Sorry, also..... Smoking pot will cause the blood insulin levels do drop, this makes one hungry, that is not a bad thing but....... it's what you eat when you get the munchies that counts. Avoid the problem foods.
well, they always glaze a little when someone starts talking about someone in their life that i don't know. then, when it becomes about "my fiance" i really know i don't want to hear it.
The only thing I can think of that probably isn't mentioned is Karela. Tastes horrible but is probably one of the best vegetables you could ever eat.
cinnamon works really well you can either use a quality ground cinnamon with high oil content and sprinkle it on whatever floats your boat, or you can get cinnamon tabs/capsules at the health food store - i've known peeps that have used it steadily and have gotten great results
