Remember that this is for the US ONLY. Still, it's good knowledge and SOME of the points still apply.
i would have a hard time not being a smart ass to the cop. better learn to swallow that pride before it fucks me over big time.
Sometimes it's best to bullshit with the cops, you don't want to make yourself look guilty right off the spot.
If I'm guilty and I know they know it.. I plead the 5th. Never say a word unless my attorney is present. If I'm not guilty or if I'm guilty and KNOW I'm not gunna get caught then I'll bullshit with them. but I pretty much avoid em at all costs. There's nothing I have to gain by talking or associating with em.
i also watched another video that said cops only have permission to frisk you if they suspect you're armed, but this might vary from state to state. also you may not be required to identify yourself to a PO depending on your state's laws.
I've been frisked before and I said "hey you can't do that" and the cop said "shut up kid" and kept going. ....If I actually had something on me I wouldn't have let him do it but I had nothing. It sucks that he was such an asshole and I couldn't do anything about it. Good video though.
^^ Oh well then that's what he did. Because he only stuck his index finger in my pockets and wiggled them around. Then he almost pulled my pants down accidentally and I was like "hey man watch it" and he looked all embarrassed lol.
But what I saw said the must have a reason. For instance, if you're being arrested for vandalism the cops have no reason to suspect you're carrying a weapon and therefore no right to frisk you. But this seems like the sort of detail that would vary between states and maybe even within them.
For a quick pat down though they only need suspicion enough for their own safety, which they can say they felt at any time.
Canadian laws might be different though, I know nothing about Canadian laws but I know in Britain the cops generally have far greater powers of personal search along with less need for warrants.
Our cops probably do the same thing as all the American cops and..... Well just not obey the rules and search you anyway.
The cops most of the time actually do follow the law good especially when it seems like people know it because of one awesome thing, the exclusion rule, America has one of if not the most exclusionary rules in the world where if a cop fucks up at all everything gets thrown out in court http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclusionary_rule The exclusionary rule applies to all persons within the United States regardless of whether they are citizens, immigrants (legal or illegal), or visitors:sifone: Unfortunately this case weakened it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_v._Michigan
