In 80's Britain anger at Margret Thatcher and sucessive concervative governments produced some of the best bands in the world with something to say about the state of the country and its people. 1. Will anger at US elections cause a renaissance in US music that at the moment is just controlled by the giant music corps? 2. Or will Americans just tow the line, get behind the president now he's elected and offer no resistance like the Bush administration wants? Thus the music remains the same? 3. Or is the youth of America too apathetic anyway? Are they just happy borrowing mummy and daddies fancy car and spending their allowance on clothes and drugs? Who cares were too happy to be angry and make new music.
punkvoter.com tells you all you need to know about music and modern politics. Yeah, let's start a movement, Rock Against Bush! Who should front it? Lots of bands whose entire fanbase is under the voting age.
i hate political music. my favorite bands just get up there and play, they don't waste time spouting off about politics this is not to say that a musical revolution would require political commentary by the bands
I hope to not be here in the US to find out. Truth be told, I think there has been a slight renaissance going on for the last few years, a subtle rennaissance....
While I'd like to see a renaissance in music, I'd prefer to see an entire cultural renaissance here in this country. This last election depressed the hell out of me.
You live in Ohio and I presume your not a republican. Its your responsability to breed as fast as possible! No shirking your duties your country and state needs you! Breed more democrats now! You son't have to moulth off about politics to have music of resistance, some nice angry punk will do, or how about some inteligent left of feild lyrics etc.
