Just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with this - I'm looking for a job, haven't dreaded yet but I'm def going to this summer. My best shot is at Applebee's, either as a dishwasher or a host. I know for dishwashing it doesn't matter, but do you know if they would care if I dreaded my hair as a host?
dunno, I can't find a job fucking anywhere. But I don't know if it has to do with my dreads. michigan has the worst unemployment rate ever!
i just applied and was hired as a cook at a restaurant and the guy who is in charge of me is pretty cool with it so i didnt have any problem. i did have to do a drug screen
lol, Some care some don't. Its different from place to place. I couldn't find a job for 5 months but I found one recently, Starting my first shift in a few hours. The place is very strict when it comes to personal hygiene and food safety and they said to just tie them up in a bun and put a hair net on. I hate doing it but I need the job.
Tokyo Joes hires people with tatoos and they don't make them cover them up. I'm pretty sure I saw a guy working there that had dreads as well. If there is one of those near you, check it out.
I'm having difficulty finding any job at all right now, no one is really hiring around me. and also i wasn't smart enough to stop smoking until now, so i either have to only apply to places that don't drug test, or wait a month. both options kinda suck.
work for yourself! Sell beads at gatherings, live in a teepee and communicate through smoke signals. Infact, if you want to be incredibly sucessful I recommend grand theft auto The whole world should work on the barter system. Its the only way! -_-" I sell Toys to people. It's was alright... then I realized how much I dislike kids
Good luck. Your best bet would be a dish washer. I was one when i first started getting mine. Man did that suck.
I know the peeps that work at Costco are allowed to wear just about anything they like including dreads, tattoos and piercings here. Do you have one near by?
I doubt dreads are the reason people don't get hired. I am sure it has something to do with the economy? A lot of people are getting laid off and not many places are hiring. Good luck though
If you think you're dreads will hinder getting a job then they will. If you have a smart appearance and are confident enough they won't even care. I've had interviews in working for housing associations and the non profit sector and my dreads aren't an issue because I don't sit there all nervous acting like they will be a problem. Don't bring it up in job interviews. But yeah the economy sucks right now so depending on what kind of job you're looking for it you may be unemployed for a while. But why not use the time to brush up on your skillz. I'm brushing up on my German while I wait til I graduate.
I wouldn't care about getting a job too much normally - I could just do random music gigs here and there and make enough money to get through the summer, but my parents are threatening to kick me out if I don't get a job. So I want to get one and just find an apartment with one of my friends just to make my life easier and a lot less stressful.
I have dreads and a tattoo on my hand and I am a teacher at a middle school. Don't let it be an issue and it won't be...
