Okay you lot! Time for you to help us! Like art, like artists, like poet, don't know mucha bout them and would like to know more from the comfort of the forums? Want control over who you hear about? Well! Here is your chance, take part in the weekly 'Artist of the week' poll and then the one that people seem most interest in finding out about i shall write a thread on. Including images, links to thier website, gallery information if there is any .... just full info on the artist... or even poet, or eeeven a style of art infact. Fauvism, Cubism, Post-Impressionist, Dada, Abstraction, Gothic even! Anything you want to know about, i'll do the hard part and research and you just come along and read it. Originally i was just going to choose one and tell you about it, but i thought why not give you the choice... then i am writing about things you actually want to know about! I await your responce, because i can't get reading and researching till y'all vote! I will end the poll by SaturdayNight and then have the thread done as soon after that as i can! So you decide!
Gotta be Surrealism... I remember going to the Dali museum and just falling in love with the place... Cubism would have to be in second place because I recognise how important it was in breaking the grip of realism in western art... I hated studying Futurism for some reason... and I too have to confess to having no idea about Fauvism... Fly...
i say fauvism because i know nothing of it. Surrealism i am studying currently a lot anyway (for the second time) and dadaism ect (my fave period of art and performance )
I went to the Dali museum in Florida years ago... was wonderful to see the brush strokes on the canvas... sounds weird, but it really is something that was amazing to me Love Clairexxx
I belive Fauvism is the period of brigh colors , and a period in which pointlism came into use. I remember Matisse as being a fauvist (a friend of my in the art programs at Uni called me Matisse all the time)(my name is matt). Wait here you go, Artists by Movement: Fauvism 1898-1908 Fauvism grew out of Pointillism and general Post-Impressionism, but is characterized by a more primitive and less naturalistic style. Paul Gauguin's style and his use of color were especially strong influences. The artists most closely associated with Fauvism are Henri Matisse, Albert Marquet, Andre Derain, and Maurice de Vlaminck. Fauvism was a short-lived movement, but had a substantial influence on some of the Expressionists.
I do like Dali but he become hackneyed to me, ther is a poster of him in everones dorm room, what bout soe other surrealists Frieda Kahlo, maybe some new ones, I am unsure of any Neo-Surrealists, I ave seen some an most of the neo surrealism seems to be a combination of realism and surrealism, like real objects painted into ethereal settings.
Alright Follocks.. the decisions have been made The winner is SURREALISM... so when i get home tomorrow and i have done some more of my actually Art homework i will research Surrealism and let y'all know about it! Thanks for you responce, its great getting the feed back on what you all want to know about!
