    the china thing is, as is the fact that americans were at one point required to grow "hemp"

    im not sure if GW or the jeff to the son ever actually toked but we all know thats the least utilitarian use of the cannabis plant.

    Yea I doubt GW actually toked, the psychoactive effects of the plant probably weren't very well known at that point. they just thought of hemp as any other fibrous plant, such as flax

    They all probably smoked from time to time. It wasn't that strong-George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both grew hemp. Ben Franklin owned a mill that made hemp paper. Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper.

    If they were smoking tobacco how would they not try their own?
