Basically central america. Or africa, or eastern europe, basically where people are the poorest, there is the lowest cost of living. I've heard nicaragua tops the charts

I lived comfortably in Thailand for about $450 per month. That includes rent, three meals a day, and a couple of drinks a day if you're so inclined.
(This was on an island - on the mainland you could get away with less)

You can also live for dirt cheap in Cambodia and the south of Laos.

Parts of China. Other parts are damn expensive. Where I am, it is really inexpensive.
    SE Asia in many areas
Parts of Africa, though some are surprisingly NOT cheap.

I will give you prices in thai baht. One dollar is 35 baht.
I was living in a bungalow with a tv, fridge, shower, big bed, and porch. That was 4500 THB per month. You might be able to find somewhere cheaper, though I was unable to.

A meal was anywhere from 40 and up. A beer in a bar from 50 and up, in a shop 25 and up. Cigarettes from 40 and up.

In the south of Laos, I paid less than two dollars per day for a sunset view bungalow, about a dollar per meal, and roughly a quarter of weed was about three dollars. A beer would have been about 1,50.

In Cambodia, from $0-4 for a bed/room. Meal from $2. Beer from $.50, more in bars. $20 for about an ounce of really good weed.
Yes, I really did find free accommodation in Cambodia. Right on the beach. That was a dorm, though, and just a mattress with a mozzie net.

Essentially, if you look around, aren't too fussed about luxury and comfort, you can live very cheaply pretty much anywhere.

A run of the mill hostel in Thailand, basic, will be 6 dollars a night. Cheapest. You probably want better than that type of place will offer but it can suffice in tight spots. I mention hostels because sometimes upon arrival into a country, you must get one for the first few days (or week) before something more permanent pops up. Or if you are traveling around the country.
