I'm one of Led Zeppelins biggest fans (I think) So I've heard and some other people must have heard of the theory about the 'Stairway To Heaven' being played backwards. well if you want to hear it one of my friends gave me the website is http://led-zeppelin.j1media.com/
It's so funny that someone would be so bothered about it and as well when people did find out about it in the 70's some heavy Christians ( no offence to anyone I hope ) tried to get the song and album banned for subliminal messaging.

I remember when I was in the 8th grade at a Wed. night bible study ( I was forced to go every single sunday morning, night, and wed. night for 18 years!) we had some speaker come in and play us a bunch of stuff backwards... That was one of the more enjoyable wed. nights as I recall... and that was in the late 80's. crazy people out there with nothing better to do than to try and scare people and take away everything that isn't manufactured by their own little religious empires.

Backward Masking is usually done because it produces a cool effect, and the "message" seems more mystical, so a bit more profound. I myself have never done it with vocals, but I've backward-masked guitar tracks, and the sound is pretty fine...

okay, now the only things that really popped out to me was the word Satan. all the rest of that mumbo jumbo I guess you can hear because they had it written on that page. Now if someone told me that they were talking about bunny rabbits and lollipops and rainbows, I would believe that too, if it fit with the sounds. You can make anybody believe that they hear something when you have it printed out to them, or tell them what is there. I still dont hear the exact six six six. sounds to me just like a chance occurence of sounds coming together.

I think some os the words you can hear clearly but some of the words you can hear because the words are infront of you. But I'd never think that Led Zeppelin would ever put it there delibrately.

madcrappie is right. You recognize the words because they are given to you. I don't really think led zeppelin would have wasted their time to record a any message when played backwards. It's a beautifull song and people just want to search something behind it to give it a negative vibe or something like that.

if you listen to another one bites the dust, you hear "its fun to smoke marijuana" or so they say. I wouldnt have picked that out if they didnt have it printed out to me.

    Dude.. That's so old

A few years ago I heard 'Stairway to Heaven' backwards, and yes... I admit I could make out some words such as "sad satan", and "tool shed", but if we search close enough, we could find these in any song.

Oh yea, and I'm a bigger Zep fan than you are. I've got a vintage Led Zeppelin 1977 concert shirt, all of their LP's, and I know every lyric to every one of their songs.

Onto the topic.. I Don't care about all that peripheral bollocks... Whatever happened to just loving great songs and a great show..

No wonder Zeppelin avoided the media like the plague..

I didn't say it was new I just hadn't heard it before. I've read a few books about Led Zeppelin and they've all mentioned it I just had never heard it before.

exactly. not everyone has software or a record player to play the track backwards. besides, its not good on your vinyl to play it backwards. sounds like you are a bit full of yourself there. big deal if you have a zeppelin tshirt and all the albums (wow 10 of em!)... doesnt make yourself better than anyone else here. everyone hear heard of the satanic messages before, just never had the benefit of hearing them backwards.

having rare stuff and all the recordins and the bootlegs and dvds and books etc etc etc doesnt make you a bigger fan. you can manage to get all their mp3s and adore their music regardless of whether you bought this and that and wear the tshirt, etc.

a true fan will listen to their favourite band's music and this will become their life's soundtrack.
    Just my opinion.
