And thus have deleted every stored PM I owned. Five years worth of PM's.... Gone.

I'm not sure what made me do it. I'm not sure what made me save them to begin with either though.

How attached do you get to the past and to things you consider to have "sentimental" value?

I have two shoe boxes full of stuff that I keep until I am ready to throw it away. I hoarde emails like a fiend, though. It's a good thing I'm not as choosy with my physical stuff as I am with my emails. Shit would be bedlam.

That's interresting, even the ones you were saving!

Yea, I have a few that I have saved on here, and in my space....

I do, a lot, little things, like movie tickets... letters, pictures...I had a 'ex box' for a long time that had pictures, cards, notes from when I was 15, I finally let that go a couple years ago and threw it away... it was time to let go and get over it.

    Quite attached. But not much.

Does getting attached to bank statements and newspapers count?

Bank statements help if the IRS(or tax man) comes knocking... so that has a major purpose.

    Newspapers... yeah, that kinda counts.

i never get rid of stuff when i'm done with it; i hoard it for a little while until i clean up and get rid of all the crap i've been saving for the last couple months.

i've never deleted a pm either, because i've never filled up my inbox so i see no reason to take that extra step.

I don't delete stuff or throw away shit because of the whole, "I might need that later" complex I've had since I was in kindergarten and started bringing home worksheets. I kept almost every assignment I had from 2nd grade up until well after I had graduated high school. I deleted some of the more recent PMs in my box not too long ago, but eh, there might be something important in the rest of there. ;)

Most of my current statements can be found online - online banking.

    Phew.

Make no mistake, I HAVE deleted PM's. But I used to go through and find the ones that really weren't about anything.

Plain ones like, "How are you today? I'm good" would get deleted while deeper conversations would be kept.

I felt it was time for me to realize that no matter how hard I try to hang on to these things the story line will never move backwards.

Hi Everybody, My Name Is Glen, And I'm A Hoarder..

    Whoa, That Feels Much Better..:D.

I Never Throw Out Anything That May Be Of Some Use, Even If It Won't

    Happen For 50 Years.

    Keep Receipts For Everything.

Anything Electrical Or Automotive Gets Stored In One Of The Sheds,

Just Incase One Day I May Need A Little Screw Or Spring Off It.

Loveletters, And Photos Of Past Lovers, Have Em All.:).

All My Old School Books And Uniforms, Have Em All.

Motor Bikes From My "Wild Days", Stored Away, Just In Case I Feel

The Urge To Be A Rebel Again....

And The List Just Goes On.

I Think There Could Be Three Reasons For This.

(1). On A Farm Nothing Is Thrown Out, Many A Time On A Weekend

When You Have A Breakdown And Spares Are Closed, You Find A

Part On A Wreck That Can Be Modified To Get You Going Again.

(2). Since My Family Have Lived Here Since 1852 I Am Surrounded By

    A Lot Of History.

And You Don't Throw History Away.

    (3). Im Strange.:D.

    Cheers Glen.

I suspect I'm obsessive compulsive, because I have crazy reasons to keep everything. Like INSANE reasons. And I consciously know they're silly, but my deeper self (if that makes any sense at all...here I am sounding like a crazy person) is terrified that if I throw away those things, bad things will happen as a result and I will regret getting rid of that stuff. It's a sad crazy brain I have.

    That is what I do.

To a much lesser degree but it's just worksheets that I worry I might need later. I know I'm not going to work through them but want the option to. They might come in handy. Especially the science ones - they show the experiment we did.

I don't do it for all lessons either.
E.g. I've lost about three RE books in the past few years, with all my notes and stuff in. I don't plan to find them. I couldn't care less about RE.

    Think about this carefully, please.
    I'm not joking.
Would you end it all if it all went up in smoke?

i don't keep anything. my email inbox is always empty unless it's REALLY important and i need it for confirmation. my text message inbox is empty. i chuck things out in my house about twice a year, everything i haven't looked at or used. i burnt a note my brother wrote to me before he died aswell. i don't think hanging out to it was healthy. the only thing i have kept is one letter my hubby wrote me when he was away. because it's so beautifully written, but that's it.

as you can see i'm not very sentimental about much.

i'm pretty good at deleting pms, emails, throwing away useless junk. it makes my mind clearer somehow. it does come back to bite me in the ass sometimes when i need something i threw away.

edit: one thing i do tend to hoard are cards, christmas cards, birthday cards, i dunno why. i'm getting better at that though and only tend to keep the ones with pictures or something really sentimental.

    Most Certainly Not.

This Is A Risk I Live With Every Summer.

The Two Houses And Sheds Are In The Middle Of The Farm, And Every

Year I Am Surrounded By About 800 Acres Of Wheat Or Oats.

Sometimes Canola, Which Does Not Burn Too Well, But Given A

Strong Enough Wind, Anything Will Burn.

Everything Is Fully Insured, So If The Worst Happens, I Can Start Again.

The Main Thing That I Have On My Mind At The Moment, Is The Keeness

Of Property Developers To Buy The Place And Develop It For Housing

    Estates.

If This Happens, I Will Have The Choice Of Cutting Off A Few Acres

Around The Buildings And Staying Here.

But I Am Leaning Towards Just Packing Up And Leaving, Then Buying

A Small Farm Further Out Of Town.

I Could Never Live With Houses All Around Me, Even If There Was A

    Few Acres To Seperate Us.

I Guess I Look At It, As Closing One Chapter Of My Life, And Opening

    A New One.

Lets Face It.....157 Years In The One Place Is A Pretty Good Innings.:D.

    Cheers Glen.
