Haven't mentioned anything to them about it yet. I think I'm just gonna head downstairs for a bit and see if my mom says anything or notices. I'm getting hungry anyway.

 

Any time I do something they don't like they threaten to either kick me out of the house or stop paying for my college.

So I've been looking at my hair in the mirror and it looks like a lot of the ones in the back are a lot looser near the root than the ones in the front. Also there's a spot on the top of my head, i guess the best way to describe it would be the place a bald spot would be if I had one, where there's really nothing going on. like all the dreads there have loose roots and are trying to go in a direction away from there, so it leaves all the loose hair right in the middle, and because they're all pulling away from there my scalp is pretty visible there.

i'm assuming a lot of this stuff is gonna resolve itself over time though. right?

btw, my mom just came in and saw. here's the conversation that just took place:

(mom comes in to talk to me)
mom: what happened to your hair today, it looks terrible? it looks like you tried to get dreadlocks or something.
me: yeah, i decided to get dreadlocks so i dreaded my hair today.
mom: it looks ridiculous. and you have to get a job. white people with dreads never look (and then she started fumbling for the right word, landed on respectable for a sec and then went with) normal.
(mom leaves)
