I don't think many of my Chinese students realize just how popular Chinese food and culture is in the West, since a lot of my students have not been outside of China ever. There are Chinese restaurants all over the place, no matter the Western country.

Some of my students did not know:

    a. That there are Chinese restaurants all over the West.

    or

    b. Think it is exactly like the food in China (which it is not). They don't really have a concept of "Westernized" Chinese food.

So PLEASE, the next time you get Chinese food, take some pictures for me and send them to me It will be funny for them to see Westernized versions of their beloved dishes, or things that seem to have been created solely in the West and masked as "Chinese". It will be a gas, a good laugh.

Snap a shot of a restaurant or anything Chinese and I will use it as an activity for my students. They will love it!! And think it is funny.

Thanks to those who can do this!

or whatever is easiest for you!!!

So please do this for me and I will love you forever!!

Ah you're two days too late for me to be of any help. I rarely eat Chinese food...so I won't be ordering it again for months.

    -------------------------------

Yes they do, it is one of the most popular places in Beijing as well as Forbidden City. But some do not know much about 1989 and the massacre, because videos are censored. But what are you getting at anyways?

Thanks for the thoughts anyways TH.

    lol.

but Chinese takeout is fast food, it's not intended to be like traditional Chinese cuisine. i thought most people thought of it simply as fast food.

Not all of it is fast food. There are plenty of sit down places.

All you have to do is go to Flickr or Google images and type in "Chinese food."

'89. It's more than some. About half the city folk above 30 will know of it. Most of the pop dont know anything. age plays apart as does locaction.

China is one of the countries with a low knowledge of what other countries know about them. its due to censor and whatnot, but its getting better with all the overseas students bringing back stories.

thats all, no great insite to be found here.

What kind of foods have you been eating in China, Carl?

Give us a rundown or some examples of what you might eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

I am especially curious of what breakfast traditionally consists of in China.

That is in the south of China (NOT North) and was more ten years, or more, ago. They use to eat monkey brains in the south and shit like that over ten years ago but it is outlawed now.

They still turn a blind eye to it in several very rural places, as far as I'm read. (I'm rather interested in the subject), and it's practiced in the Vietnamese and some of the Korean communities.

But yeah... CAPN pretty much put an end to it.

Oh yes, you will find some interesting things in rural places, you are right. I should have said "technically". Of course "technically" sometimes does not mean much in China.
