What type of business would it be?

    Where?

What would it take to get it started?

Do we need to think about the plausibility?

I'm thinking something like a TV cartoon channel. We'd get money from adverts, of course, in the early days we'd need to have teleshopping in the wee hours of the morning but later on, hopefully, we'd be able to provide some kind of entertainment for drunks and ill children.

It would be set up wherever is best. London or New York are the two biggest places I'd say, but I don't know where would be best. If we get really big we could scout for talent in other countries too.

I'd like to open up an Internet Cafe...and have a drop in centre attached -for young adults. I don't know if it would pay for itself...but i'd give it a go if I could.

Being my own boss would have certain advantages, but the paperwork and the total amount of hours of involvement would probably make it not worth it for me.

amen on the paperwork and hours of involvement! i owned/ran a metaphysical supply shop for almost a decade - although it had its rewarding moments, it was an all consuming task, as i made the majority of the product(s) and hosted all the activities/classes etc.

i think it would be great to own a shop and let others run it for me - just be a buyer, picking out all the cool stuff my shop would carry and letting someone else deal with the day to day hassles.....if i could do that though, i would probably own a theatre with full bar, lol! :)

I don't think I could be invested enough in a business right now.

If I was to open one I'd probably do a fancy restaurant, an edible-food growing greenhouse, or an IT company.

I would love to buy this big moviae theater place that shut down a few years back. I would rename it "Rock n Roll Cinema." I would put bars inside of most of the theaters, and play live concerts on the big screen. You wouldn't have to be quiet, it would be more like a concert scene. However a few of the theaters would not have bars, and would be quiet, playing documentaries and biograpgys of different musical legends. One theater of course, I would rip out the screen and replace it with a stage. Bringing in actual live bands to play.

Anyone have a coulple million they want to lend me? If we build it, they will rock!

There's a place in town that screens old movies on mute and has a band play the soundtrack through the entire movie.

Lots of drone/ambient bands... but once in a while they have something rockin' with a fast paced movie.

It's a pretty ingenious concept in my opinion.

It actually costs them next to nothing.

They own the place and a projector.

The movies they show are ones that are public domain (older ones), so they don't have to pay for the rights.

The bands are local and do it for free/little money (mostly for the exposure).

They make a killing off selling booze mostly.

I'd like to run a handful of different businesses, but I'm generally more interested in real estate itself.

I'd like to own a property management company. Wouldn't take much to get started. A commission based employee, an initial client, some business cards. Some phones. Maybe $8-$9000 depending on how good the name, slogan, logo, etc were. If they weren't worth copyrighting they probably wouldn't be too visually appealing, but not needing much from a patent attorney initially would save start up costs. Sometimes ability speaks for itself. Once I had a couple of clients it would be self sufficient and say with..... 25-40 managed units it would provide a very nice ROI, year after year.

I want to own a limo company for my high class residents and my condo buildings. Maybe a half a million to a million start up? Just depends on how late in my real estate career I decide to pursue this. Though I don't doubt it will be fairly early since my main incentive is to ride around in a limo every day and write it off each year.

I'd likely end up starting up a construction company as my real estate career lead me into international property development. I couldn't begin to speculate on the costs there. I've never even glanced........

My "ME" project is something I keep extremely secret since I've never seen a facility to match it and am not willing to watch one pop up some years before I've reached my goal.

My companies will be based strategically as it makes sense. If I'm developing over 5 years in Rhodesia, I'm not starting a construction company in Brooklyn.

Likewise, if I'm developing in Brooklyn I might not even start my construction company there if the tax benefit of starting it elsewhere makes sense and the second location is somewhat central to future projects.

It'd be hard to say without mapping out a lot of shit, and really I dunno if I have the energy.

How many old movies have you actually seen?

They are usually ignored simply because people aren't exposed to them.

A friend's band did the soundtrack for Nosferatu, per example.

Another did Rear Window. (which is an amazing movie)

    Customer information business.

I would sell information on consumers to media companies so they could better focus on demographics.
