So I've been looking at this place that does dreads and in addition to the backcombing they also palmroll with aloe gel. Is this reccomended or would i be better off have just having them only backcombed??

Aloe is generally used to tame frizzies. So if you are looking for a more neat and tidy look use some aloe. Otherwise just backcomb and leave them be.

And if this place charges you anything to make dreads, just get a friend and get them to help you make them. It's easy to do and will save you some cash

It wouldn't hurt to try it, it can always be washed out

I personally didn't care for how it made my hair feel but it might work for you

    mmg you are hilarious :D
aloe might be good for the first few days when they are extra crazy and fluffy but when they settles down a bit I wouldn't bov. I hated aloe on my hair but I like the big and messy look ;)

i haven't used aloe in years but yea it works to keep the frizz down like a gel but it does nothing to accelerate the locking process.

I never use aloe... I think it detracts from the natural look, makes you look all gobby and gooey
