Personally, i would just let him keep it as it is, you never know at soem stage he may justget fed up with it and say, yer what the hell, ok. If its a religious belief, then it cant be tampered with.
if he realli doesn't want to cut/rip it then I wouldn't make him, going into marraige you will learn the most important word is compromise but you'll also learn that you are still youself so shouldn't change for anyone. Do you think cutting/ripping his congo would be a better start to your marraige? I think it looks so coo though
I would have to agree with most of people in saying don't try to force him to cut it or split it. Just offer the idea up and leave it at that.
If my dreads were as epic as his and someone tried to convince me to cut them into thinner bad boys. I'd start round house kicking people. If you did cut them they would still looked weird anyway... one side of the dread would look balls
personally, and not trying to start a theological debate here i think that rule in rasta religion is stupid, how is not doing anything with your hair going to bring you closer to god or self enlightenment? if you talk to him as a person im sure he will agree, your a woman and as all men know you have the power in everything, im sure at this stage he is a walking purse for you aswell, religion just gets in the way of peoples brains
Try comprimise. Don't try to get him to get rid of it, try and find ways of presenting it in a better way? Like wraps or something
yea, well i understand the locking process being a spiritual journey cuz u can remember your past through your hair i just dont understand why they think natural and no interference is only way to go no razor can touch head, thats understandable cuz its in numbers 6:1-6 never speaks of combs, gels, wax, hands assisting, things like that
wow thanks for all the replies and insight everybody! mmg....I would never try and alter his faith....I love him as is and have been putting up with the uni dread for about 5 years now with only one mention of what I think of it. I have already accepted the fact that he will prob never alter it in any way and can live with that....it's just kinda funky lookin is all Im sayin...plus it smells funny when wet and takes up all the pillow space at night!!!! But youre right....its more my problem then his and Im internally dealing with that. =] Dragon....weve tried wraps but the thing wont bend up on itself enough to wrap! and jason...Ive contemplated cutting in his sleep and have actually had dreams of it! lol. Would never do it though! He'd despise me forever and ever!
Could you work it in Mandy? I mean for wraps? Do like dread exercises to make a bit of a weak point in it so it does fold? Sounds silly, but might work.
if your man is truly a rasta then there is no way he would let you cut his hair no way. tell him NP thinks his shit is the dankest dankest shit and mad props to him and his momma for that. and mmg, grow up son you are talking like a 16 year old calling a woman a 'broad' LOL rasta imposta...rasta haffe RASpect for a queen. :cheers2:
lmao...dread exercises! Ill try to work it out enough for it to drop a couple dress sizes! seriously though....it might work....Ill talk to him....he even gets funny about me touching it though! lol. Its funny cuz he's a real easy going laid back happy go lucky kind of a guy but you get near his dread and he turns into such a meany! lol.
blah, i didn't know broad was a derogatory term until i just looked it up. k? mah fault. you do you, mandy
mandy, i'm a bit late. but, i think he knows he should cut it for practicality. but, his beliefs prevent him from doing so. just leave it. he will decide once it starts getting really bad. he probably doesn't want you to touch it because it may be uncomfortable/irritating to his scalp. i think that the whole not cutting you hair thing is a test of faith in the rasta belief sytem. we decide to not comb our hair anymore and it causes ridicule from the public, economic problems (not beign able to get a job) and it interferes with daily life. this is a test for him. this is a test for all rasta. we must be faithful that we will have what we need, regardless of the problems that our hair gives us b/c we choose not to cut/comb etc. so sick of the rasta haters on this forum btw.
