I went to the Dead May 16th and saw tons of people on tons of drugs and now I'm really digging the festival scene. I found out that Phish is going to be at the same place the Dead was at so I got to thinking that I should try to go. I don't really want to see the show since I'm not much of a Phish fan but I'm wondering, that would be a big show with lots of drugs wouldn't it? I only would go for the LSD and hash etc. so if it wouldn't be a jumping party I won't go. So, it would be a big party right?

Man, that whole scene sounds really laughable. Here's a group that charges fairly exorbitant prices for their shows, only to perform in front of a bunch of drugged out poseurs too fucked up to thoroughly enjoy the music. Sounds pretty lame to me. You might as well just spend the money on the drugs and play a Phish CD on your stereo at home.

It will be full of douchebag pseudo-hippies.

If that's your kind of scene, then have fun.

I'd personally only go there with a M-16 and lots of ammo.

Druggies really annoy the shit out of me, especially the kind you find at a Phish concert, who 9 out of 10 times are living off mommy and daddy's wallet. Fucking joiners.

I wouldn't go for the music. I'd pay $10 to camp... I just wonder if I'd be able to find plenty of drugs to make it worth going. No way I'd pay any price to see them play.

i'm here to defend phish. i love their music and when i go to a show, any show...that's all that matters not who or what's around me. .....you're not really into phish, so stay home. you want a party scene go to a festival, tons of people and things to do, all weekend....seriously though you should stay home.

The husband took me. he's a real ex Dead Head, used to follow them when he was in his twenties on the GreenTourtise and all kinds of crazy stuff.
I ended up having so much fun. I didn't do any 'real' drugs because I offered to be the designated driver so Andy could have a good time and we could not worry about having to wait a long time for a cab, or not having a 'home base'.
But it was SOOOO much fun. No posers at all. The lot was awesome. There were a lot of rainbow families there on buses. Awesome vegan food and incredibly fresh fruit. It was so nice to go a whole day without having to worry about anything being icky with grease and fat or having meat in it.
Maybe it's different because we saw them in Mountain View?
Anyway, I don't know the answer to your question. Just wanted to note that we saw a totally different scene than what a lot of people assume it's all about these days :).
I personally don't think the tickets were that bad, especially considering they give all of their music away for free. And that's what workign hard is for right? To pay for things?
The hotel and shopping were the kicker since I am picky where I sleep and the bay area is $$$.
If you do go to Phish and find the scene likeable, let me know. The closest thing I found is Bruce Hornsby (who I have always loved), but it's at the Napa Valley Opera House, so I doubt it will be as fun. But, it's on my b-day so I think we're goigng to go and make a weekend out of it if Andy doesn;t have to work.

Yeah it sounds like a Phish show isn't my scene. I loved the Dead show and just wish I had prepared a bit. No tent, no money, no nothing. But I still had a blast and if they tour again, I'll be there for sure.

ya dood I was at that dead show too. It was all about the campground hippie scene. there was e and shrooms everywhere, and I heard a few selling doses. I'm thinkin I'm going to hit up Phish, mostly just for the crowd but I really liked phish as a teen so that's be cool too. I hope its the same crowd but I guess we'll see

    Dead will always trump Phish.
I'm not a Phish fan by any means, but I will be at Bonnaroo, and since Phish is playing there i will be seeing them. I will probably enjoy them as well.
That said, I would never pay to go to a Phish only concert.
