not in the present system.

the present system would be VERY changed by an enforcement of a real code of morality.

the thing is, as the system changes it shifts it's code of morality with it, claiming that a new morality is needed to "keep up with the times"

 

So you expect the class of people with power of coercion to enforce moral codes that run against their material interests? Good luck with that.

unfortunately, if you want a moral evolution you are typically bogged down with religious crap, because rarely do ecologists believe that if lying went away the nasty polluters would.

even though if everyone were playing by the rules, things would work out much better for them (kyoto)

same could be said for anarchists. the real ones, not the silly ones (I swear I'm not trying to make a joke here)

people like the con though, people like believing there is a game they can use to further their ambitions

removing the game removes those hopes, it makes things sterile, it removes the romance from it.

that's a lot of why it's such a hard sell for "revolutionaries" (that and legitimate revolution being a hard sell in the first place)

and you have to convince people in power to join you, and people with power almost all acquired that power through a skill-set you would be making useless by the nature of this kind of revolution. and by the very nature of a sentient creature, self preservation, all that, makes your candidate list MUCH shorter.

 

could you imagine how many people would be hurt by lying...

"honey, does this dress make me look fat?"

"yes dear"

and before you know it she's pissed off and you're in the dog house.

I lie on a regular basis, it's not a big thing, it's just easier then having to explain everything to everyone. Things like "So how are you?" "Fine" rather then going into exactly what the problems are.

so if it's a good lie, then it's not really a lie?

Example:

Wife: "honey were were you tonight"

Husband: "I had to work over tonight"
(in actuality he was banging the security on floor 8)

Wife: "oh, okay honey... do you need a back rub after working so hard?'

Husband: "yes"

...see that kept her from getting hurt, but it was a BAD lie.

 

obviously, it's a lie. I would say it does matter whether it's a helpful lie or a harmful lie, though

if she asks a question like that she deserves the true answer, it's her own fault for asking it.

 

If it weren't for lying, i would be in trouble for admitting that i smoked pot when being pulled over (he kept asking). That's the only lying i find acceptable is when its to a law enforcement officer lol.

Lying is painful. The person who lies does not understand they are hurting themselves by not living in integrity with their words and a code of honor.

Dishonor does bite people in the ass and long term will hurt their ability to manifest things.

But forget all that crap. The best revenge is succeeding despite the asshole in life.
