I was thinking about getting into making my own laundry soap.. And I've found a few recipes, but I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with making their own laundry soap, and if you may have some tips or tricks on making it

    Thanks! 8') :peace:

using the grated soap bar method (and I use any soapers' stuff) I love to add borax and baking soda.
I do find vinegar in the "softener" part of the wash is brilliant.

    1/2 cup soap flakes
    1/2 cup baking soda
    1/4 cup washing soda
    1/4 borax

store in a tightly sealed container
use about a 1/2 cup per load

I used to make it and use it all the time. Then I got a front loader and found it was building up inside the soap chute...not fun to clean out :( I still use vinegar in the fabric softener holder, but I switched to cheap commercial liquid.

The home made stuff isn't pretty, but it works well. I even used it to clean a large area rug that my cat had peed on and I had tried everything else and it still smelled. I put the rug outside on the deck and scrubbed the hell out of it. Good as new.

My experience...I tried different methods, but it will always be lumpy. Also it does not "suds up" like commercial soaps, but that is the way it is supposed to be. People like to see the soap working so commercial manufacturers add sudsing agents.

Dr. Bronner's diluted with plenty of water works really nicely as a laundry soap.

You can also use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar and baking soda, mixed together.

Then, too, you can use Br. B's to wash and vinegar in the rinse.
