I'm very interested in herbs. Especially growing them.. Does anyone know a good place to get salvia seeds? The cheaper the better of course. Any help would be wonderful.

I doubt you will ever find seeds. Salvia D. in captivity is reproduced with cuttings. Fertilization and seed production is so rare, I think it has only been observed a couple of times and whenever it happens a new strain is named.

Don't buy seeds, even if you do find them. You'd be lucky if 1 out of 100 sprouted, and it would probably be a scam in the first place. People who live in states where Salvia D. is legal can buy (slightly) rooted cuttings from various websites, though results are very mixed even from the same source. People in other states might need to do a bit of searching...

Okay! thanks for all the info! I will not buy seeds. I will just buy the plant... (I can hardly ever get seeds to sprout for that long anyways) Thanks all!

Is it salvia divinorum? Ornamental salvia is sold all over the place. Even in States where sd is illegal. They are related, and the leaves look the same, but ornamentals do not contain the salvanoids (sp?) or chemicals that you are looking for. If the plant makes pretty flowers, it is the wrong plant.

If it is not in flower, a quick test is to taste a leaf. If it just tastes green, not particularly bad, it is ornamental salvia. If it has a sort of bitterness you can feel at the back of your throat and makes you want to rinse your mouth out (not real bad, but you can feel it), then it might be Sally D.

They will look very similar, until they bloom. If you mean it has a blue flower, it is not salvia Divinorum which would never be sold for its bloom. It blooms very rarely, and when it does, it does not create a display of color. Its flower is very small, hardly noticeable unless you search for it.
