I've posted this on another forum and now I'm posting here in an effort to get as much information as I can. Here goes... (Hi, by the way!)

I know a guy named Sylvester who is considering taking LSD for the very first time this weekend. Sylvester is a weekly, if not daily, marijuana user, he has taken mushrooms 6 or 7 times, and he has taken MDMA about 7 or 8 times. He has had only one bad trip on mushrooms and it was due largely to his own stupidity (He was at a festival and ran, skipping, away from his group of friends in a fleeting moment of euphoria only to find himself quite lost moments later... the trip went back to being okay when he finally found his friends two hours later but it left quite an impact on him. He knows not to blame the drug, since things were magnificent both before and after his stupid decision to go it alone. However, this was less than two months ago so it's still a little fresh in his mind.)

Sylvester is going to see Nine Inch Nails at some point during the weekend, also for the first time, in a city three hours away. Coincidentally, the day of the concert is the only day he has available to try LSD since his roomate and best friend Dennis has to work all of the other days and has, along with Sylvester, been waiting for a very long time to try this drug. In the land in which Sylvester and Dennis live it is very uncommon to find LSD. Through much reading of this site, I have come to the conclusion that it's probably best for Sylvester to do this drug at a different time so that he is more comfortable with his surroundings and less prone to high levels of anxiety, and I have told him this. Nevertheless, Sylvester is still leaning heavily towards taking the drug this weekend anyway, given the fact that he has almost always been able to handle a "strange" situation. He cites the fact that there will be a third person at the concert, Jerry, who he is also very very good friends with and who will be sober and is a willing 'sitter.

    Other facts to consider:

Sylvester's sister lives in this city, and will be dropping the concert goers off and picking them up to ease any transportation costs or headaches.

Sylvester's sister has a place with a lot of space to relax in after the show as well as a boyfriend who is very accomidating towards this type of behavior as he has done this many times and is a hell of a chill guy to be around.

Sylvester IS worried that music as aggressive as Nine Inch Nails might invoke some sort of bad emotion. He would also request that those who comment on this point be familiar with the music of NiN and respectfully hold their comments on this subject if they are not.

In summary, Sylvester knows that he might be rushing things and that the situation is less than ideal but would like to know, really, how stupid of an idea it is or isn't. Any honest opinions are welcomed.

I would say go for it. How much does he plan on takin? Its not the ideal environment, but it would still be fun.

They are planning on taking 2 hits a piece. But this is also up for debate.

The person who gave it to you said it was strong? If its not strong then I would be comfortable telling you guys to do it. Just make sure you can get away from the crowd if you need to. That is prob one of the worst settings to do acid the first time, but most people I know say they "can't have a bad trip" because acid is so friendly. It is too, unless you take a lot. But 2 hits should be fine for something like that.

Remember to stay together cuz u will get lost fast!

Personally I would not do psychedelics at a concert unless it was a very chilled out kind of music with chilled out kind of fans.

Maybe a better idea would be for Sylvester and his friends to go to the concert, then go back to the sister's place, drop, and hang out in a relaxed environment post-show.

yeah, that is probably a better idea. I just figured that he was going to stay at the concert for a while, pretty much taking up his whole night. Cuz he isn't going to sleep for like 6 hours after it kicks in.

If you have no other choice, then do it but be careful and stay together. Put your thinking cap on.

If you have another option like the one mentioned above, DEFINITELY do that!

Oh yeahh, by all means fests are WAY better than any concert I have been to. I just don't think you have a fest going on that specific day, yeah?

    Fests rock butt...

It would be harder to handle for sure, but I think they would do fine. I would recommend the after concert house tripping though, heavily.

yeah they would be fine, but it just might be not be the best atmosphere to do that strong of a psychedelic for the first time

That is what I was thinking. But if it was a choice between doing it and not doing it, I would def go for it. But maybe thats just me. I can be a little rambunctious at times.

With a name like thinkfloyd, I don't think you would be. I was just assuming from the title that it was an ultimatum. Wait, your only 16 tho! You are already "no newbie to the experience"? Thats crazy dood. Where abouts are you from?

Hey guys, S and his friends wanted to say thank you very much for the quick and informative responses. Only 6 hours and already 2 pages. Again, thanks!

So you bring up a good point. A post-show trip would be ideal. Spirits would be high, basically just a good positive state of mind to be in before a hallucinogenic experience. However, Dennis has to work the next day at 3pm. This is a problem because, A. It is a 3 hour drive back home to get ready for work, and B. He must be of sound mind and body for this job that he works. As much as he would LOVE to do it post-show, it's just not happening.

S talked it over with D and neither of them want to wait much longer to do this.. The earliest it can be done if not at this concert is next friday and they are, to borrow your words, too rambunctious for that sort of delayed gratification.

All parties involved agree that a fest would be best. S had a wonderful time at Coachella mixing mushrooms and mda. S wonders if hippy tripping is anything like lsd.

S and D are still debating this matter thoroughly and, although they will probably give in to their child-like impatience, still welcome any and all advice.

P.S. It's none of my business, but if you are 16 i suggest taking it easy for a while when it comes to any sort of drug. It's not propaganda, you're brain isn't really ready for that yet, probably physically more than mentally. Make your own choices, but be careful! :)

lsd is nothing like mushrooms, doing one does not in any way shape or form prepare you for the other, only in the general sense that altering consciousness profoundly with one gives you some idea of the level of activity the other will create.

Unfortunately S could not find any rolls. S is, however, going to be rolling for Pretty Lights next weekend. That + Bonnaroo + PVD/Benassi is really going to test S's endurance.

A friend of mine had it for the first time at an ozzy ozbourne concert and had a great time.
I think that if u already enjoy the music and are comfortable with it u shouldnt have a problem. If u where into classical music and then went to a Cradle of Filth gig then it might freak u out but i dont really think it would be a problem otherwise.

Trippin for NIN is absolutely fucking EXCELLENT.
Then again I enjoy the darker trips so I may be a little biased there.
I'd highly recommend it if you're sure you can handle that level of intensity from the crowd and the band.
At Bonnaroo I myself will be candyflippin for NIN.
