I don't think it was random, from what i have gathered through American media ( i am being serious this time) i have noticed alot of genuinly racist undertones towards Puerto Ricans that reminds me of the racism towards African Americans from Whites. My understanding (although somewhat limited) is that alot of Puerto Ricans are econmically disadvantaged, which leads to obviously higher crime rate, this could be the reason for the negative stereo-types, none the less humour like this shows the complete apathy by people regarding those in bad situations or even worse genuine racism.
Jesus Christ, am I really the highest so far? Either you are all lying or I have had a pretty good interesting life. I think I smell some porkies.
That option could just as well be replaced with any group/community etc, puerto rican was probably chosen because its not a major ethnic group... and very fitting in this context as such, nothing more nothing less. Puerto ricans are "latino" which is too close to mexican for some hillbillies... thats as far as I've seen that racism go. Around here the puerto rican day parade is pretty huge, and every year the only part that makes the news is someone got shot, raped etc etc... but thats how it is for everything on the news. Anyone that chooses to base their opinion on an entire people by what they see on TV is an idiot. Perhaps that very idiot came up with this "fine" thing and wants to put every puerto rican in a concentration camp so they can cheaply make "nuke puerto rico" signs... Or it was a random choice.
Somehow despite where you go with this post, i still feel that portion may have been directed at me. Which is stupid i know because i wasn't judging an entire people.
Actually it was directed toward your comment, although not meant to be a hurtful slap in the face, more of a wake up and smell the coffee pat on the buttox Spelled out: By you yourself using the american media to derive your view of the american people you have eaten what you were fed without asking why that big pile of brown goo on your plate tastes like shit.
See thats where you make a big assumption, i never gathered my view of the entire American people from television programs, not at all. What is true however is that atleast SOME Americans have these feelings, i know because Americans write said programs. While it is true that i cant judge an entire people by this, it is certainly evidence that some of the American people feel this way. This coupled by the fact that this little game views having sex with Puerto Ricans as more morally obectionable then any other race, leads me to believe that it was intended to be deragatory. Sure i don't know all the facts but i can use the limited information i have to come to some reasonable conclusions, although not proved beyond a doubt are still reasonable.
My door is always open. You are more than welcome to crash at my place. It's only a room, but I have got a spare bed.
