Hey, I'm going for it! my hair does not do anything right, when i straighten it, i hate it, when it's curly i hate it half the time because it's frizzy (and not in a good way.... but i think that one thing it would do exceptionally well.... is dread. this is a picture of my hair when it's curly(i've got about 3 inches more than the pic right now and it's being tame there so it's a little curlier) where my hair is so curly and it knots and tangles really well i was thinking about using either the natural, palm rolling or the twisting method(or perhaps twist and rip.... i guess that's a lot of options to look at, basically i'm saying i CERTAINLY don't need to backcomb it. i was wondering if the just twisting method would make them look fake? because i don't like the ones that look like a wig where they're all the exact same size and shape and are just strings. but was wondering if palm rolling sections of my hair after washing it would give good results.... please, share your experiences with dreading your natural curly hair AND DON'T FORGET PICS!!!
your hair will certainly matte very easily as long as you don't use conditioners... check out my album, i've been dreading neglect method for just over a year. there are some other folks around that dread natural... some will tell you to backcomb or twist, but if you are patient then you wont need these artificial methods to simulate dreads. good luck
i don't think just twisting it would work on your hair type. twist and rip would be good and thy won't look to uniform unless you do a lot of maitenance (i.e. crocheting). you may also want to consider backcombing just the first maybe inch of roots after sectioning and then let it do its thing. or maybe neglect if you can hadle some major uglies.
hey! since you don't seem to be one of those 'I want dreads and I want them now!' kind of people I think you should start off the natural routesee how you get on with that and how it works for you. I honestly think you would look amazing with dreads. I had hair quite like yours. I look ridiculous in my sig but you can see my dreads^__^I t&r mine and have had them for 7months now. I loveee them too^.^
I was in the same boat as you. My hair is just like yours and I could never really get it the way I liked, so I decided to just let it do it's own thing. I definitely think you'll look very cute with dreads.
you are beautiful and i wish you the best of luck ... and with your beauty i shall be awaiting more pics as well
My hair was curly too. I backcombed the roots after sectioning, and have just left them alone after that. You'll look gorgeous, and you'll love the low maintenance liefstyle. Good luck, pretty lady.
by uglies i mean neglect method causes your head to look like a birds nest. i've heard it called the "uglies" before, so that's the term i used.
^^^^ *looks up into the coffee shop window from which I sit in front of and shrugs at the reflection of meh carrraaaazzzzy uglies.* lol
they can look like 'uglies' with any method though. mine are still going through a bit pf a crazy messy stage and I've seen some backcombed dreads look comically shitty. I honestly think naturals look best in the shitty stage. And I also think it's a lot worse in peoples heads. I think my hair is crazyyy but then I take pics and it don't look that crazy! lulz. is this just mee?
yeah. i didn't mean for "uglies" to have a negative connotation but i guess it does. i still have a birds nest and mine are mostly backcombed.
I think it would almost be a shame to dread that hair, and I like dreads on pretty much everyone. tl;dr:you have nice hair
Yeah I would never recommend backcombing to anyway. It's a ridiculous concept...this coming from someone who backcombed originally.
your hair looks just like mine and mine is dreading awesomely. you should leave some curly fly-aways around your face, I think it looks sexy...
I was in the same position as you my hair was crazy and impossible to maintain and it wouldnt stay straight...but dont do what i did if i could go back i would have just saved myself a lot of trouble and gone natural but instead...first i backcombed then later i braided the backcombed sections then neglected those...it worked but it caused a lot of unneeded issues...just go natural
