my mom befriended me on facebook...

Save them 'till when? What's the allure of smoking them then instead of now?

 

So, do all you "youngsters" think that your parents can't find you here? What egos!! I've got news for you.... a lot of us original hippies have been online much longer than you have.

Maybe your parents 'befriended' you on Facebook (or myspace, and yes, I'm on all of them too) because they thought you were old enough and mature enough to handle it.

Wouldn't they be surprised to discover just how wrong they were.

 

Heh. I never understood why people put pics of themselves drinking or smoking weed up on a public site like that.

i'm friends with my mom on facebook, but i'm 30, so at this point there's not really much she can say about things i do. i dont really post anything crazy on my facebook anyways, thats more of a site where i keep in touch with family members i dont get to see often and old high school friends. mainly because i hate talking on the phone. i'd prefer to talk through the internet or texting.

Being friends with adults on facebook is so awkward because you have to be careful with what you say.I did add my friend's mom yesterday though.She's so rad haha.

wow someone has anger issues. No one brought into question original hippies, and although I believe i am ATLEAST a partial hippie, i did not mention that in this thread so that is completely irrelevant. Egos, well when arrogance takes hold we are more likely to get caught, but i dont think either of my parents will be seraching for things that will come up on this site.

i am old enough and mature enough to handle being friends with my mom on facebook. if you read my ORIGINAL post i say that i rarely put info up about my daily life. But its the principal, keeping my personal life out of reach of my mother's knolwedge...especially this shit...it would idk it would disappoint her im sure.

 

I have pics of me smoking and drinking on facebook as a large group of my friends want to see those types of pictures. So I just simply create special friends lists that are allowed to see those pictures. You don't have to let your mom see everything if you don't want to. I would add her as a friend and limit her from your pictures, your wall if you have inappropriate stuff, and just keep your statuses relatively clean and then who cares.

I will facebook friend anyone, but only those special enough get to see my bong ripping pics on facebook lol.

i should figure it out. im friends with professors and cousins and things are fine...but my mom? really? idk for me thats just weird...call me crazy, old fashioned, whatever lol i think im gonna hold firm, for now../

 

good for you, she just wants to spy on you. you don't need to be friends on a social networking site with your own mother ffs.

 

yeah, my aunt is on facebook now. i didn't add her. she didn't add me either (i sometimes get the feeling she doesn't like me a whole lot). but whatever, i'm glad. there's some things i just don't want most of my family to know.

 

That sounds exactly like what my dad would do.
I have my mom, dad, aunts, uncles, my brother and cousins on fb. I have no problem with it. It's nice too keep in touch with some of the family. My mom got all weirded out because my dad requested her as a friend. They've been divorced for over 20 years. She's said, "fine, I'll add him, but I'm not talking to him, that's just weird."

 

meh no big deal, my mom used to post here on the hipforums, her screen name was goodkarma or something of the sort

 

I think this is the one place that I wouldn't want my mom or dad to hang around. I say some stuff that they don't even want to know about. My mom is the type that will ignore the stuff that she doesn't want to know. Like when my brother talks about smoking pot or makes really sexual comments, she doesn't hear them.

 

For just pictures you go to edit album, then edit info and change your settings under the privacy tab. Then go under custom and start adding friends who you want to be able to see the pictures. Once you add enough friends they ask if you want to make a friends list and then just title that list whatever you want. I have 3 different lists of people who can see only certain things lol.

 

A few of my aunts and uncles have facebooks but I don't have then as friends. I hope they never come across my page.
Yesterday my mom asked me to teach her how to use facebook. Fuck that.
