i ordered two pairs of plugs. 1/2". one is single and one is double. the doubles are tunnels and the singles are just plugs. they both fit the same. is there a real difference?
It depends on how loose your holes are, and also the size. Large lobes that have been at a size for a while, have more give, and can better accommodate a double flare plug, where as smaller gauges and freshly stretched holes have a harder time, and thus need a single flare with a o-ring. Ex: If I pull my plugs out at night, and sleep with nothing in my ears, then they are tight enough that I cannot fit double flared plugs in my ears, however, if I leave them in all the time for a few days, they usually loosen up enough to pop over the extra mm or so. I usually wear SF eyelets at night, and hanging designs in the day in my largest holes (0g for 2+ years), and SF eyelets in my second/smaller holes (8-4g for 2+ years). Double flares arent easy for me to take out/put in, so I only wear them when I am feeling really lazy.
They also make me feel like they are going to get stuck in your ears haha, but that might only be at smaller sizes
How often is it that you can see the back of someones ear? I think they look pretty much the same. The second reason that I have a lot of single flared jewelery is that I plan to get my conchs dermal punched at an 8mm, the same size as my lobes are now, and there is no putting DF jewelry into cartilage hahah.
