i've moved somewhere over 30 times in my life. i also feel like people who stay in one place get too settled, too stagnant, and tend to get pretty boring and stuck in their ruts.

there is something about interaction with the world that makes it impossible to stay in the same place long... whether it's the same place physically/geographically, or more of a metaphysical sense. and anyway, after you've been somewhere a little while, you get to know it really well, and then it's just time to find some new things to get to know, lol! it's a small small fucking world (and your mind stays small too) when you never expand your horizons or see/meet new people or do new things.

staying in the same place feels like death to me. guess that's why i move a lot, haha.

Americans move a huge distance and many times, compared to the typical British person.

I Britain yeah we have Euro-types, all into foreign languages and shit.
And expats- travel, live tax free and speak only with other ex pats.
    But those are pretty rare.

Altho I heard Britain has a bigger proportion of skilled migrants than anywhere in the developed world..

Many people might make one big move or so,even over a whole life. But generally British people are very city/region loyal.
Altho personally I have no problem with moving.Having done so a fair bit.

I don't like to stay in one place for much more than six months, and I haven't for six or seven years. I'm not sure if that makes me interesting, funny or genuine, but I am definitely an aimless bum.

I'm inclined to agree, though. The most interesting people I've met have been outside of their own countries, and the vast majority of people who have never lived outside of their hometown tend to be... well, I don't want to say boring, but they seem to not love life as much.

But do u all move across the town or across the whole of America?

Ok places like London and big British cities are more "cosmopolitan".
But its pretty unusual to move that far for most people in normal jobs.

I like living in the same place and traveling. If I don't want to see certain people I know how to make it difficult to get in touch with me. I would hate moving around all the time. Sure you get to meet new people, but I do the same when I go on trips.

Yea, but its hard to spot an unfunny, uninteresting traveler... Someone totally boring, hermit like, but always on the go. and you know there out there. They just don't stand out as much.

I've met some pretty douchey travelers from my own journeys, as well as from time at home, who have been way to into their own world to know what's good for themselves. Don't think theres much validity to this.

Its the limitation of posting on the internet and trying to keep your posts simple enough to hold the attention of the average person. If you wan't complexity read Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

I said 'there are exceptions', but some men (cherea included) can help but get their dicks out for measurement. It seems most of the stereotypes are in people's heads as well.

    I feel defensive today.

GGM isn't nearly as complex as he could be.

I wish his books were more complex, they'd be more interesting and even more so beautiful then.
