I just saw a pregnant women smoking today! I was at the bus stop and this pregnant women came up with her daughter (who liked 1 or 2) and started smoking. Smoking while pregnant and smoking in front of a young child. I told her it was not good and she said fuck off to me and blew smoke in my face, she looked chavy btw, lol... Is this common, what do you think?

I'm totally against pregnant women smoking, and I don't like it when I see people smoking around their children, especially in confined areas. But oh well, it's their body, their children, their lungs. Doesn't affect me.

    Unfortunately, it is common.
Maybe she's gradually quitting, pregnant women cannot quit immediately because its a huuuuge shock for the whole organism.

    Still.....Not cool.

I have pregnant women smoking meth, shooting up and getting drunk. I think it's a good thing. I like the Darwin awards.

You are both fools. Their actions cost you money in health care. Not to mention a parent like that would also cost you in education, CPS and other things....

But what can I do about it personally? I can't do anything really.

It should be considered child abuse.

    Good for her.

The world needs more people to poison their own young so we don't become even more overpopulated.

I'd give the bitch a glass of bleach if she asked for it.

If people got up in arms everytime someone else did something wrong (subjectively, of course), we'd never get anywhere.

I agree smoking with children is trashy and disgusting, but you should mind your own business. Shes already aware.

My mum smoked while gestating me.
I'm not sure if it has affected me.
I guess I could have been an inch taller or something.

I know a few people who smoked while pregnant.
I guess while you have another human being under your influence, you should try and care for that being as best you can.
    Smoking doesn't do that.

I read somewhere 90% of cot deaths are due to passive smoking.
Parents smoking in the same house.
    This shocked me.

Smoking is filthy, period, and you shouldn't subject anyone, let alone children, to your dirty, disgusting, smelly habit.

Um yeah, I got that the first time around. :D

I get your point, yes, it does affect me financially, but I'm not referring to the financial aspect, I'm referring to the act itself.

Yeah, smoking while pregnant ain't cool... yet you're a little wanker for confronting her on it. Who are you to tell her what to do with her body? It's not like people don't know that they're not supposed to smoke while pregnant.

    Her response was extremely appropriate.

meh, i think it could all depend on what she wants her child to grow up to be like....i know when/if i get pregnent i'm going to take slightly less iron then i should because the more iron in the womb, the more outspoken child...... i really dont want a loud mouth air-head... however i will take a bunch of folic acid for brain developement...... i want a smart baby.... (see psycology today magazine for part of my reasoning if you'd wish)
