9/11 and bush and iraq seems to be the most important things at the moment I say forget it for at least a couple of seconds and think of some of the things love has achieved like the end of apartheid in south africa, if people were not passionate about it and felt a sense of love and compassion for the victims for it this wouldn't have been achieved, the fact that is happened saddens me but the fact that although it isn't perfect there yet it is far better than it was. Now post your example of what love has achieved and reach out for the positives that has happened I would also like to take this chance for those who are reading this to take a minute in slience for the victims of apartheid

man who doesnt need love......Love is the on going strugle for people to get through to each other if every one just had love with them the world would be a better place........think about it man just grip the reality of LOVE and think..........THINK.....

I think people have not understood what I was talking about I'm talking love in the sense of humanity, what has love and passion that desire that things could be better not for yourself but others that has done some great things, my example was to do with apartheid I didn't mention any person as many helped this change; again as I said its not perfect but its better than it was but if I was to mention someone {and many people do I admire for their work of pure selflessness} it would be Ron Dellums; even though he is no longer in congress the burning passion that things could be better for others has continued and he himself knows what it is to be others as he came from the ghettos himself and I have to ask what he asked in the 70s when he started in congress. I will put it simply as this; why can so much money in the states be spent on defense and so little on humanity. I personally feel that there is a large percentage of the states that only cares if they're doing well otherwise how could it be? *If you're not going to be serious about this don't post there is nothing funny about apartheid, aid, racism etc*
love is all around; you just need to look for it. to a list a few, Love has saved trees, love has saved me, love has made a retreat near me that is full of kindness and wonder.
yeah i can see that.. love is the only thing that allows human beings to trancend self interest. And human beings, as rational creatures, can extend the concept of love, from love of our immediate kin to the love of all humanity. It is a sad fact that many people do not utilize the faculty of reason enough to take such a perspective of humanity.
Self-interest should be the main guiding force in pursuing happiness. (Ancient Chinese Philosopher said that, can't recall who.) Should be the ultimate axiom if you ask me.
Love for all is the true road to enlightenment and pure happiness. It is also the only way to realize true peace. Without love human life is meaningless and empty. Lasting happiness can come from no other source but love. As for examples of what love has achieved, look at the lives of great people such as Gandhi, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Mother Theresa, etc and you would see but a small part of what love has achieved, and can achieve.
