please do a little research. i have some ingredients as well just waiting till the right time. theres an Ayahuasca documentary on youtube. its 8 videos long. it includes alex grey and rick strassman. the only reason im telling you to check it out first. is because certain foods can make you super sick during or eating before taking it. some foods can even kill you. you have to be very cautious what foods you mix with the MAOI's(vine/syrian).

i currently have 2 pounds of mimosa, a pound of syrian and a pound of Cappi. yellow caapi.

my first experience will be with the caapi and mimosa. then i will move up to syrian.

ive done some reasearch. and expect to have the BEST and the WORST time of your entire life. apparently from EVERYTHIng ive read. the "Purge" is its main effect. its a spiritual healing through a flush. you have the most amazing experience of your entire life. followed by the most negative and bad feelings and then the "Purge" which is usually puking. but it can also involve poopin. then its followed by the feeling of purity and fractals again.

so basically waht im trying to say is.

its THE BEST and THE WORST at the exact same time.

afterwords you realize that it was all the best. after you have the purge. (which is usually needed). then we feel better and more aware and more awake then we ever have.

so the healing takes a bit of a sacrifice at the same time.

just make sure and do some research. the food part is the most important to me. dont wanna see you eat somthin and then get super uber sick. <3

    good luck!

the purge is incredibly beautiful. and i find there is an accumulative effect to them. after a handful of journeys you begin to feel more like yourself than you ever have before. one thing ayahuasca has taught me is just how unified the body/mind/spirit complex is. there are many "layers" that make up what we are, (physical, mental, emotional, energetic, astral...ect.) but these arent really layers, they are all one phenomenon. the tensions we hold, the negetive emotional responces, the heavy energies we carry... any kind of sickness we have is present throughout our entire being and manifestes itself in different ways.

its like this...if you have an area in your back that is real tight, its connected everywhere. it could be an expression of some kind of habitual fear responce, like social anxiety. the anxiety is happening in the mind, and the fear in the emotional self, energetically we close up, physically the body tenses, and gets tight over time.

ayahuasca works with us on every layer of who we are, for healing. i know i was amazed at just how much sickness iv carried my entire life. i was amazed that a human being could be that sick and not die. the purge is increadibly cleansing, your cleansing everything.
if you work with ayahuasca, your going to feel your sickness. its somthing nessesary to the healing process. it may not be right away, and it certainly wont be all at once. we carry lotsa gunk, it takes time to sort out.
its intence, but its worth it.

man arch. i wish i could have you under all my posts always!

keeps people from argueing when they see people agree with the stuff that most of us find "abnormal" or "weird".

=] hopefully in a bit we can have some sort of interesting conversation.

oh yea. and Neste. now that someone has warned you. do a little tiny bit of research or else you will freak out when your world gets turned inside and then out and then back inside and out again. changing from beautifull fractals to chains and shit, and back to fractals again. =]

oh yea. and once you are clean of your toxins and negative energies, ayahuasca is one of the most beautifull artist drugs ever. ive heard that the purge no longer happens.

but honestly, for most of us. we got shit in us..

oh ya. and when you do the water. definitly put some lemon juice in there for the acids. if you dont. you will regret it. the water will soak up most of your main ingredients.

    here are a few books

    Plants of the Gods
    Sacred vine of Spirits
    The antipodes of the mind
    The invisible Landscape
    The way of the shaman
    Wizard of the upper amazon

those are all good books for ayahuasca. you can probably torrent the Ebooks or download them from Rapidlibrary.

    this was tooken from Ayahuasca.com

it will show you waht im talking about. MAOI's are EXTREMELY dangerous and life threatening when mixed with certain things.

NEVER try to cross the river blind. =] even tho it sounds more natural. some people have already fell in it.. just listen to that guy whos telling you he tried it. and to follow him down this bridge. =]

What foods and drugs need to be avoided?
By admin • Feb 28th, 2008 • Category: Overviews, Science, Spirit & Healing
What foods need to be avoided?
Basically foods that are aged, preserved, dried, fermented, pickled, cured (meats), rancid, old, outdated, overripe, or even slightly spoiled.

The following foods are recommended to be avoided with MAOIs:

Meat that is not fresh, especially unfresh liver (fresh meat and fresh liver are safe)
Smoked, fermented, pickled (herring) and otherwise aged or dried fish, lox; any fish that is not fresh
Sausage, bologna, pepperoni, salami, corned beef
Aged cheeses (cottage cheese and cream cheese are safe)
    Protein extracts
Liquid and powdered protein dietary supplements
Brewer’s yeast, yeast vitamin supplements, or yeast extracts
Fermented tofu, fermented bean curd, fermented soybean paste, soy sauce
Canned soups, or soups made with protein extracts or bouillon
Miso soup (contains fermented bean curd)
    Shrimp paste
    Sauerkraut
Fruits that are bruised or even slightly overripe, especially bananas and apples; raisins and other dried fruits, fig newtons, etc (banana peels also should be avoided — as though you’d eat them anyway)
Avocados, if ripe or overripe (slightly underripe avocados are fine in moderation). Guacamole should be avoided.
Red wine, especially Chianti; sherry, vermouth, champagne, brandy; beers and ales, including nonalcoholic; whiskey and liqueurs such as Drambuie and Chartreuse
Dairy products that are close to the expiration date or that have been unrefrigerated (fresh yogurt is safe)
    Aspartame (Nutrasweet)
    Fava beans, especially if overripe
    Peanuts - in large quantities
    Raspberries - in large quantities
Spinach, New Zealand prickly or hot weather - in large quantities
    Chocolate - in large quantities
Caffeine in large quantities (note: in a few rare individuals, there may be a severe interaction with even small amounts of caffeine)

How long do they need to be avoided?

24 hours before and after drinking Ayahuasca should be sufficient.

Is it really important to avoid those foods?

The warnings about tyramine interaction sound very serious, because they are adapted from warnings about interactions with pharmaceutical MAOIs.
However, food interaction with Ayahuasca is frankly not as serious a matter as it is with pharmaceutical MAOIs.

    http://forums.ayahuasca.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=12275

However, while there are no reports of fatalities from food interactions with Ayahuasca, food interactions could conceivably be life-threatening for a person with severe high blood pressure or serious heart disease. People with these conditions, therefore, should follow the MAOI safety diet very strictly when taking Ayahuasca.

Please note: Peganum harmala (Syrian rue) is a stronger MAOI than Banisteriopsis (Ayahuasca vine) and has potentially more serious interactions.

    What can I eat?

In terms of the MAOI safety diet, basically foods that are as fresh as possible and not overripe, preserved, or spoiled in any way.

    Drugs and Medications
Is it really dangerous to combine some pharmaceutical drugs with Ayahuasca?

YES. Unlike food interactions, whose consequences are unlikely to be serious, interaction with pharmaceutical drugs and meds (including some over-the-counter drugs and certain herbs) can be potentially life-threatening..

Which drugs are dangerous with Ayahuasca?

A list of meds to be careful of with MAOIs:

    other MAOIs
SSRI’s (any selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor)
    amphetamines (meth-, dex-, amphetamine)
    antihypertensives (high blood pressure medicine)
    appetite suppressants (diet pills)
medicine for asthma, bronchitis, or other breathing problems
antihistamines, medicines for colds, sinus problems, hay fever, or allergies (Actifed DM, Benadryl, Benylin, Chlor-Trimeton, Compoz, etc.)
    CNS (central nervous system) depressants
    antipsychotics
    alcohol

Some specific drugs that should not be combined with MAOIs:

    Actifed
    Amantadine hydrochloride (Symmetrel)
    Amoxapine (Asendin)
    Benadryl
    Benylin
    Bupropion (Wellbutrin)
    Buspirone (BuSpar)
    Carbamazepine (Tegretol, Epitol)
    Chlor-Trimeton
    Clomipramine (Anafranil)
    Cocaine
    Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril)
    Cyclizine (Marezine)
    Desipramine (Pertofrane)
    Dextromethorphan (DXM)
    Disopyramide (Norpace)
    Doxepin (Sinequan)
    Ephedrine
    Flavoxate Hydrochloride (Urispas)
    Fluoxetine (Prozac)
    Imipramine (Tofranil)
    Isocarboxazid (Marplan)
    Levodopa (Dopar, Larodopa)
    Loratadine (Claritin)
    Maprotiline (Ludiomil)
    Meperidine (Demerol)
    Methylphenidate (Ritalin)
    Nortriptyline (Aventyl)
    Oxybutynin chloride (Ditropan)
    Orphenadrine (Norflex)
    Parnate
    Paroxetine (Paxil)
    Phenergen
    Phenelzine (Nardil)
    Procainamide (Pronestyl)
    Protriptyline (Vivactil)
    Pseudoephedrine
    Quinidine (Quinidex)
    Salbutemol
    Salmeterol
    Selegiline (Eldepryl)
    Sertraline (Zoloft)
    Tegretol
    Temaril
    Tranylcypromine (Parnate)
    Tricyclic antidepressants (Amitriptyline, Elavil)
    Trimipramine (Surmontil)
    Yohimbine

    Also avoid the following herbs:

    St. Johns Wort
    Kava
    Ephedra
    Ginseng
    Yohimbe
    Sinicuichi

Using Tricyclic antidepressants within two weeks of taking MAOIs may cause serious side effects including sudden fever, extremely high blood pressure, convulsions, and death.

Using Fluoxetine (Prozac) within five weeks of taking MAOIs may cause high fever, rigidity, high blood pressure, mental changes, confusion and hypomania.

Using Meperidine (Demerol) with pharmaceutical MAOIs has resulted in deaths from a single dose.

Using cocaine with MAOIs may cause a severe increase in blood pressure, increasing the chances for stroke and cerebral hemorrhage and making it possible to overdose on a relatively small amount of cocaine. (A fatality has been recorded involving combining Peganum harmala and cocaine.)

Using Bupropion (Wellbutrin) within two weeks of taking MAOIs may cause serious side effects such as seizures.

Using Buspirone (Buspar) with MAOIs may cause high blood pressure.

Using Carbamazepine (Tegretol) with MAOIs may increase seizures.

Using CNS depressants with MAOIs may increase the depressant effects.

Using Dextromethorphan with MAOIs may cause excitement, high blood pressure, and fever, or brief episodes of psychosis.

Using Tryptophan with MAOIs may cause disorientation, confusion, amnesia, delirium agitation, hypomanic signs, shivering.

Using alcohol with MAOIs may cause side effects like angina (chest pain) or headaches. The headache may mask or be mistaken for hypertensive crisis caused by MAOI interaction.

Using Kava with MAOIs may result in hypotensive crisis (severe blood pressure drop).

Using Temaril with MAOIs may increase chance of side effects.

Special note to diabetics: MAOIs may change the amount of insulin or oral antidiabetic medication that you need. Notes on Diabetes and Ayahuasca.

    Threads discussing specific meds:

    antibiotics
    antihistamines
    asthma inhalers
    SSRIs
    Acetominophen
    Codeine
    Diazepam
    Elavil
    Kava
    Kava
    Klonopin
    Klonopin
    Losartan (Cozaar)
    Methadone
    MDMA
    Oxycodone
    Paxil
    Percocet
    Prozac
    Risperdal
    Stratera
    St Johns Wort
    Vicodin
    Wellbutrin
    Zoloft

How long do you have to stay off them before and after an Ayahuasca ceremony?

Depends on the drug. May be 24 hours, may be six months. Two to six weeks is typical, but do not guess. Find out for sure from your doctor.

the diets tricky, its hyped up alot but really isnt that difficult or complex. a fast before hand is really all that is needed. the shaman i was working with when i was intoduced to aya also stressed a fast afterward until about noon the next day. (and a shower upon awakening ;))

what works for me is to eat fresh wholesome foods in the morning, then a simple light lunch around noon. then no more food until noon the next day.

the tricky part is if you are on certain perscriptions or drugs that you would never expect to have a negative effect. its good to know that.

so, you fast before hand, 1 day, then eat something according to the sets of what you can eat?, then you fast again afterwards ?

i got the mimosa hostilis and syrian ru, i heard someone saying that if it becomes too heavy (note; im not worried about it) you can just puke, and the effects should wear off pretty fast?

i havent tried aya before, but are very interested in trying should be added!

its never worked that way for me or anyone iv ever met. unless you puke right after drinking, but at that point aya isnt yet flowing through your body.

you buy the ticket you take the ride. somtimes it feels quick, somtimes it lasts an eternity. theres isnt really an "abort mission" button. there are master ayahuasceros that know icaros that would put someone whose gone too far into a deep sleep, but iv only heard a small handful of stories where they were willing to do that.

I just received mine and I'm trying to work up the courage and proper time to try it. It is a brownish color. I hope that it's just minor oxidation or something relatively insignificant.

I am also hesitant about the nasal route as I already have sinus issues. Back on topic, good luck with the huasca!

i will most likely be drinking it on thursday, late at night. otherwise it will be saturday.

i am a bit nervous and humble, hopefully humble enough.

i am anxious to learn a lot more about this, especially in terms of medicinal benefit, initially
